Greg, I see that Draft Masters is scheduled for 2 P.M. and Auction at 6. My guess is that many of the Auction players will be in the DM also.
I suggest that you put a disclaimer in the schedule that the Auction will start at 6:00 P.M. or 45 minutes after the end of the DM (an hour would be even better), whichever comes later.
I think the DM players should have a chance to take a break and get something to eat. I know you're planning on a cash snack bar which will be very convenient but we'll need enough time to enjoy it. If I'm wrong about the snack bar, we'll need a few more minutes to find a place.

Greg, this is also a concern that I had in that I'm participating in both. Good call Jersey Paul.

I'm with you guys on all of this. Yes, almost every single person who has signed up for the Auction League is in the Draft Masters League, so we'll make sure everyone has enough time to get their heads straight between drafts. We'll be cognizant about the food situation and see what we can do to make sure you guys don't have to run far to get a bite to eat. Have no fear as I think we'll be able to do the Draft Masters League in three hours, but if it takes longer we'll be flexible with the Auction League starting time. We'll work together on this one and I'm sure all will be fine.

Thanks Greg, I knew you'd make it perfect. Just keep in mind that the DM is 24 rounds, which for those without an HP12C, is 336 players. Counting sticker pasting time, 45 seconds is probably the best we can average which is 252 minutes. Again, for the mathematically challenged, that is over 4 hours, not counting any breaks. I further assume we will have a break at about half time, say after 12 rounds, for a nominal 10 minutes which will stretch to 15. That's close to 4 1/2 hours.
Looking at best case, say 30 seconds, that's 168 minutes which puts us just a little over your planned 3 hours.
Speaking for myself, I'm not going to rush my pick to try to get done faster. The mid rounds where you need to choose between taking another QB, RB or WR are the toughest. Looking at Antsports ADP we see the following at the start of round 8:
97. New England Patriots DT NEP 7.12.95
98. Steven Jackson RB STL 7.13.00
99. Boo Williams TE NOS 8.01.00
100. Mike Vanderjagt PK IND 8.02.00
101. Byron Leftwich QB JAC 8.03.00
102. Reggie Wayne WR IND 8.04.00
That's 1 each of the 6 positions. Which is best? I don't know about the others, but when faced with that decision, I might use most of my time.
Edited to add:
Hmmm, the more I look at this, the more I think the DM should start earlier. I'm sure the signups at this point are manageable enough that you could contact everybody and see if that was okay.
The Auction is 20 rounds and clearly will take over 4 hours. Seems to me we need to start earlier to make sure we finish at a reasonable hour. Most will be commuting and need to get back home before returning on Saturday for the main event.

I tend to agree here, Greg - the Draftmasters league I did last fall was very time consuming... would rather have 'too long' of a break between the two events than not long enough if we somehow screw up and get done quickly
The auction league took over 5 hours last fall.

Okay, I agree that the Auction League needs to stay at 6 p.m. because that will take 4+ hours. We can certainly consider moving the Draft Masters Leagues to 1 p.m. in each locale as we already have those meeting rooms all day. Let me contact everyone who has signed up for the Draft Masters Leagues first and if that's cool with everyone we can move forward. I will also look into a plan of having food on hand at each location and making sure guys who are doing both events have a sponsored break or at the very least have hot food they can pay for that is edible and close by.
Thanks for the post. We have no plan to rush through these important drafts and want to make them fun for everyone involved. Adding an hour makes sense as long as it doesn't affect anyone who has already committed to the event. I'll post a definitive answer once I hear from everyone.

Greg, I have no problem with moving the Draft Masters leagues up to 1 P.M. as I will be landing in Vegas at 11:40 A.M. and will be ready to go when I get to the Flamingo.

I have no problem moving up the time also. In fact I could go at 12. A bloody Mary and a couple of eggs and bring on the drafts.

Okay, I think we'll make it official. I knew that Rick was getting into Vegas late that morning and he was the one I was worried about. Let me check with a few more guys in New York and we'll make the change. But I was worried about Rick making it on time and he says he can swing it. Thanks guys as you are right the 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. times make more sense.
