Hi, I was wondering how the prize structure will be revised if you hit your goal of 25 full leagues, up from 16 last year. If my math is correct, you will be taking in $157,500.00 more than last year. Is it true that the grand prize will not go up even fractionally? If so, why not? Thanks

Your math is correct. Last year's prize structure was based on 308 teams and when we hit 224 we took a big hit financially. If you do the math of 224 teams and our prize payout, we paid back almost 89 percent of entry fees in prizes, and we obviously had many other expenses involving with running the three-city drafts. Our goal was and is 75 percent with a full field.

This year with 350 teams, we have changed the prize structure slightly by paying an additional $1,000 per league in league prizes. We raised second place from $1,500 to $2,500 in each league. The overall prizes have remained the same, but they would go up proportionately if we do go higher than 350 teams (a max as stated in the rules of 448 teams). We feel that adding more league prize money made more sense than adding another $25,000 in overall prize money.

If we reach our goal as you state, we will make money this year. That would be a plus, especially after last year. But we did the right thing last year by establishing our event, paying off a high percentage even though we didn't reach our goal and proving that the NFFC and NFBC multi-city high-stakes events will be around for a long, long time. Hopefully you'll join us again this year.
