Greg/Tom
I noticed you've been absent from any MB commentary on your beloved Packers success/failure rate at the 2006 NFL draft. What gives fellas?

I can't answer for Tom, but I believe Greg probably just woke up somewhere around Times Square from drinking non-stop since Friday...lol

Sorry I missed all the questions guys. I was in the office at 5:30 this morning and barely got up from my desk as we're getting a lot of work done with one week before our first issue goes to press.
With regard to the Packers' draft, I thought Thompson did a terrific job. He had to add a large number of picks given the massive team needs and he did that. Plus he got some real talent. Hawk, Colledge and Hodge (I think Hodge could turn out to be a major steal) are going to be impact players and Jennings looks like a great fit for the WCO. He drafted good football players and good athletes. I really like what Thompson did this weekend.

When Driver is double teamed, will Favre look to Gardner, Franks or Ferguson? Can Sterling Sharpe come back?

I was shocked that we gave into Walker's demands and only got a second-round pick out of it. It sets a bad precedent in Green Bay, which unfortunately wasn't a precedent since Sherman allowed Mike McKenzie to whine his way out of Green Bay previously. As much as we gained in the draft defensively, I have NO idea how the Packers are going to score any points on offense. Who does Favre throw to?
Not only that, but if he really wants 12 guys to make this roster (he kept trading down like more was better rather than drafting Chad Jackson with the pick he got for Walker) then what is he going to do with the $20+ million he still has under the salary cap? With that many rookies on the roster, he could have been more active in the free agent market, don't you think?
Hawk will be good and I think they have improved defensively this off-season. But if I'm Favre and I see three untested linemen in front of me and a worse receiving corps than I had last year, I may be questioning my decision to come back in 2006.
I wasn't as impressed with the draft as Tom, but we'll see. Thompson better be active after the June 1 cuts and somehow find a No. 1 receiver and two proven guards to make this team even a .500 club.

We had seats down on the floor of Radio City Music Hall and the whole setting was cool. The folks in our group got free tickets and every seat was sold out, but more than half of the people on the floor were gone after the 10th pick. Less than 20% of the people were there for the entire first round. REAL fans should have gotten those tickets. I got bored down there, so I went up to the balcony seats to hang with the J-E-T-S fans and had a blast during the second round. I then went to the ESPN Zone to watch the Bucks blast the Pistons and watched the rest of the draft there. Good fun all the way around.
Next year I'll get two tickets and we'll do it up right. We'll hang with the Jets fans and get on ESPN!!
