Greg,

Serious Question here. Is there anyway to not let guys talk on Cell phones at the Main Event's.(Auction's, DC'S And the Big Main Event) Last Year I was Next to two guys that both where On the Phone the whole draft. I still won the League but it will drive guys Crazy.Im sure Im not the only one.And it is not fair.

It Is not fair to have guys looking at two drafts the whole time. I study all year long and these guys get to cheet the system. Also they are getting two or maybe even three chances to win the $100,000.

Would just like a ruling on this. Because Im thinking about buying Three Main event teams maybe more. And skip alot of the little satellite leagues. Would rather have three chances at $100,000 then get into the ultimate or 100 satellite leagues... :D

Thanks

I agree with you Johnny, though it will probably be hard to enforce due to how humans disregard most rules.

I know from playing in the NFFC and facilitating the NFBC the past 2 years, there's a lot of "cheating" going on. This years NFBC draft had an owner continuously coming over to inform his partner and be informed to how each draft was going. I've noticed many owners in both events checking out the others leagues boards throughout the draft. This is supposed to be a no-no yet people still do it, so I'm guessing they would be the same with the cell phone thing.

If people can't keep their eyes on their own draft and the cell phones to a minimum, it might be a circumstance where we have to take them out back by the dumpster and take care of business after the draft!

BTW, if you are coming to Tampa, don't plan on winning again, that is unless you're heading out to the Hard Rock Casino after the draft.

GLY,

I had two guys on the cell phone the whole draft and one of the two guys buddies coming back and forth the whole time. Killed My MoJo...lol

Tampa or Vegas....?????

I still don't know. I won't know for sure until the last second. When I see the Auction's getting filled I will start to get a little nervous..lol

I kind Of like the Dynasty High stakes league they got going in Vegas. Might Drop the DC and get into that. Two Auction's would be a blast.

Tampa Looks good to, I got a one in 5 chance to be in Snakes league....(Just Messing with ya Snake)lol

I'm a little confused, how are they cheating on the phone? Are they drafting one team live and then another over the phone? Also, I didn't know there was a rule about looking at the other draft boards. What advantage could you possibly gain from that?

I understand that it may be a crutch that a person call someone else in the rooom to see how the other draft is going. If one draft is going quicker than another, if you're in a slower league, if you call the guy with the quicker league, you can find out who went in a certain round ahead of you. I don't like that at all, but it's a rule that I can't see being enforced. How is Tom supposed to check every table for cell phone use? I guarantee he's taking valume by round 3...LMAO

I used the cell phone a few times last year, but it was because I was calling a friend of mine who was at his computer checking on Dieon Branch's status. It was around round 7 and it was either Dieon Branch or Mark Clayton, with what I had available. There was talk about Dieon Branch going to Seattle, which at that time, I thought was a good thing. I ended up taking Clayton. Remember, an injury or trade can happen DURING our draft since it's so close to the season, so those cell phones can be a big help at times.

So Johnnie, I agree, people shouldn't be calling other tables. I think that B.S....But for up to the minute info, that should be fine.

Johnny, I understand your concern about folks on cell phones, but I highly doubt they are talking to others within the room. Most folks are talking to partners who couldn't make it to the draft. Yes, it can be a pain in the butt and we realize that, but we also realize this is the 21st century and cell phones are used in every walk of life. If the folks next to you are too loud, tell your facilitator and we'll intercede.

And yes, some folks do walk from board to board as they may be part-owners in a second team. Heck, for baseball we had one guy drafting an Ultimate Auction League team and helping his buddy draft an Ultimate Draft League team with the help of a cell phone. I don't know how guys juggle these teams, but some do. It sounds like you might want to do the same thing in the NFFC this year, which is allowed.

We try to balance the concerns of our owners with the needs of our owners and it's not always easy. Cell phones will continue to be allowed in the NFFC drafts as some co-owners want to be involved and just can't make it to the live draft. But please let us know when you're having trouble with folks on the phones.

Are we allowed to go to other draft boards during the draft/break after round 9? Also there's mock draft sites that you can do with pretty much the same scoring rules as the NFFC so you'd gain the same info that you would calling someone or looking over at another board during the event. Cell phone will be a help just do to the fact it's the "lifeline" part of the event. If a laptop fails you're now pretty much disconnected to the rest of the world and I wouldn't hold my breath about asking another guy/girl in the smae league to use their laptop to get info. I'd say the only thing to keep you up to par with what they're doing is to do as others as long as it's within the rules.

We ask folks not to mull around the leagues that are still drafting during your break, but if you want to see a board of a league that is also having a break there is no problem with that. It's no problem to see what others have done with their first half of the draft.
