Slow auction evaluations
I thought we should have a thread to discuss each round...the good/bad and so on.
1) How do 4 top RB's all go for $55 or under? 1 for under $50. I'm happy to have gotten 2 of them.
2) A little pricey....Brees $40...OK for regular auction but too rich for a DC IMO
3) What gives on the Kickers? $5, $5, $6
4) Breaston $17, Caldwell $5....a lot of early speculation in these bids. Personally I think these bids are OK but didn't expect to see them this high so early in the draft.
5) Balt $8, Chi. $7.......it's true defense wins championships...just not in DC's...at least not just one defense.
Imagine if these prices held true throughout and you wanted 3 D's and 3 K's...you would spend 36-42 just at those spots.
Anyway...that was a fun round and it's waaaaaay too early to throw darts. Just a few observations to pass the time.

I was surprised at the prices that those RB's ended at. You got two good RB bargains. Great way to start for you. All week I expected that I would to go and get MJD, but that changed Sunday afternoon when I decided to go get both AZ WR's, because I think Boldin will not stay.
I would not normally spend $17 to get Breaston, but to pair him with Fitz I was willing to do that. If I'm right, my production from those two spots will be really good. If I'm wrong, it's only a $125 auction.
You are right - big $ being spent on K's and defenses.

well, last year i got stuck with 2 crappy kickers and 2 crappy defenses. and i had to pay too much for them, as there were several of us scrambling to get them at the end of the draft. wasn't going to let that happen again.

That's an excellent point. The better prices are usually toward the middle of the draft.

Luck in FF is like a game of Russian Roulette. The BWaz's of the world only have one bullet to spin - the rest of us have two. It's still mostly luck, but ...

3 SEA (22) All very valid points along with the Balt/Philly stats you provided on the other thread.
I would lay $$$ out though that SF comes nowhere close to the success that Balt and Philly enjoyed last season.
Anyway it's still fun bustin your chops. I can't wait to hang out again in Chi-town.
