Conditional bid help please?

Post by Sandman62 » Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:20 pm

Are there any past posts or online help about the details of how to use this? (I tried searching already.)

For example, how do I do the following?

If I bid on Player A but can't get him, I'd like B, or C, D, etc., dropping the same player for any one of these.
Do I simply place a bid, then put conditional bids under it? Or do I create separate bids for each player I want? However, because I might get one of those, then still would like to try to get another (dropping a different player), then do I create a second bid starting w/ player B, then put conditional bids under that for C, D, etc.?

If I bid on A and do get him, only then do I want B, or C, etc.
Is this one even possible to do? My reason for wanting to is this... Say I'm willing to bid 200 for player A, and put a conditional bid under him for B for 150. If I get one of them, then I'd like to bid cheaply on C (say 50). However, if I get neither A or B, then I'd still like to take a shot at C and would be willing to go higher than the 50.

These are the two examples I'm interested in specifically, but if there's a general Conditional Bid FAQ floating around, I'd be interested.

Thanks.

Sandman,

Put in your bid for Player A...You'll then see on the right, "conditional bids"...Just add Player B, player C, player D...etc.

THEN, restart your bids. Refresh the page if you have to...As long as it says "player bid" and not "conditional bid"...

As you restart your new bid, you put Player C in as your first choice for your second pickup...Then repeat, if you have secondary options for conditional bids to follow Player C.

Conditional bid help please?

Right now I am interested in replacing one player on my team. So I have 4 separate bids in, to try to pick up 4 different players. The FA I want most, I put the biggest bid on, 2nd most, etc. All 4 of them have the same dropped player attached.

So I have for example.

Brodie Croyle 87
Byron Leftwich 83
Charlie Batch 31
Culpepper 8

all of them with dropping Anthony Gonzales attached.

i'm doing it correctly, right?

i'm doing it correctly, right? Pete, I haven't done this since last year, and I'm doing mine tomorrow, but if I remember correctly, Leftwich, Batch and Culpepper should all be labbelled as "conditional bids"...

In fact, it might even read as

1.Brodie Croyle drop A. Gonzalez
a.Leftwich drop A.Gonzalez
b.Batch drop A. Gonzalez
c.Culpepper drop A. Gonzalez

No problem Pete. In your case, either way will work, because once you pickup a guy and A. Gonzalez is off of your lineup, the computer wouldn't recognize any other bids...But it's best to get to know how to do the conditional bids.

Good luck!

Conditional bid help please?

Post by Sandman62 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:13 pm

Ok, so I thought I was all set. But I added some more conditionals and now I seem to have hit a bug?

I have 3 bids: the first one has 10 conditionals under it, the second and third have 4. But then I went to add a few more to the second one (by clicking Add Conditional) and all it does is completely ERASE all of the bidding options! It leaves my players, but just removes all of the Actions and turns off the edit of the Bid amounts.

If I refresh the page, the Actions and Bid fields come back. But when I click on the Bid, it gives me the entry field to edit it, but it won't accept when I click on the box to save it.

I'll probably PM Tom and Greg on this too in case they don't see it out here.

Conditional bid help please?

Post by elk42 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:38 pm

It is my first year doing the Classic and I seemed to have hit a bug as well when entering transactions. I entered a pickup with 3 conditional picks this morning. However, I am trying to change the picks in the system but it will not let me add new pick ups or delete the current ones I put in for. Has anyone else encountered this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
