Survey Says: Use 2 Full FAABs During NFFC Season

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 07, 2012 7:54 am

Okay, we just received the survey results from our customers about FAAB in 2012. We had 360 responses, which was very solid and more than we received from the two previous NFFC surveys. The results were very interesting.

As a quick overview, we asked our NFFC members to rank in order of preference their favorite options for running FAAB in 2012 and beyond now that the NFL has scheduled a Thursday NFL game each week of the season. The overwhelming favorite choice involved full FAAB on Wednesday night, followed by another full FAAB on Friday night. But there was some interest in each of the six choices. Here are the results:

Survey Questions:

a) 2 FAAB periods: full FAAB late Wednesday night; a second FAAB on Friday night of all remaining free agents who weren't picked up on Wednesday. No cut players from Wednesday can re-enter the free agent pool for Friday.
36.2% favored this option

b) 2 FAAB periods: Wednesday night for just the players on both Thursday Night teams; then a full Friday night FAAB for players on the remaining 30 teams. No cut players from Wednesday can re-enter the free agent pool for Friday.
18.3% favored this option

c) Wednesday late night only FAAB deadline Weeks 2-13.
18.8% favored this option

d) Keep our current structure of Friday only FAAB Weeks 2-9 with nobody having access to the Thursday Night players the week of that game and then move to Wednesday only FAAB on Thanksgiving and keep that for Weeks 10-13.
8.8% favored this option

e) Friday late night only FAAB deadline Weeks 2-13; Thursday Night Players would have to be picked up the week before.
8.1% favored this option

f) 1 FAAB period: Thursday afternoon only FAAB before the Thursday Night Game; no other FAAB after the game.
14.5% favored this option

Adding up the rankings numerically, they came out:
1. Option a
2. Option b
3. Option c
4. Option f
5. Option d
6. Option e

We did ask one more question that if given just one option you had to choose, which one would it be and the order remains virtually the same:

1. Option a = 38.8%
2. Option b = 18.4%
3. Option c = 16.2%
4. Option f = 14.5%
5. Option e = 6.4%
6. Option d = 5.6%

We haven't come to a conclusion yet, but this survey does verify our own thoughts. What do you think of the results?

Greg,

If break down the results into less categories you would have:

57.2% want 2 free agency periods

42.8% don't want 2 free agency periods

I personally think that you were asking too many questions. The decision seems to be either full free agency both Wednesday and Friday or just one free agency period on Wednesday. I have been guessing that it was "almost" decided that we were going to have 2 free agency periods. (Just trying to read between the lines here..) I might also be guessing here that the majority of the players would want more than one free agency period but that if you broke it down to how many teams played in your events and there was one vote per paid team it might come out slightly in favor of one waiver period per week.

Like I said before Greg, this decision won't affect my play in the NFFC nor will it affect my dollars spent. I will probably re-allocate money into draft masters this year as I honestly like that format just as well as regular leagues. But that's just a personal preference.

I would encourage you to make a decision so that we can move forward. I would also love to see a decision made on our scoring system for next year. I have my preferences but I will support your decision.

Wayne The second question was pretty point blank Wayne: If given just one choice, which one would you want? Most people took two full FAAB periods.

Now, that being said, this looks like a Republican primary. There is not overwhelming support for any of these. We expected that but we wanted to put the decision in the hands of NFFC owners. If you wanted me to cut it down before hearing from our paying customers I could have mandated 2 or 3 options. But we gave you ALL of the options and now we can see how split everyone is.

Does this tell us enough? I don't know. It tells us that no matter how many more surveys we do, we won't please EVERYONE. And we can thank the NFL for that. We didn't ask for Thursday games every week, but here we are and we have to deal with it.

A final decision needs to be made soon so that we can all live with it and plan accordingly. But all of you have given us this direction.

[/QUOTE]The republican primary is probably a pretty good example. Romney defeats Gingrich and Santorum but probably loses to Santorum heads up.

It seems to me that the masses want two free agent periods. Obviously, some of the voters didn't want two periods. That being said, if we assume there will be two FAAB periods, let's narrow it down to option A and option B and vote again. We've had the primary, not we can settle it for real. The "non" A&B option voters will have to look at it differently and choose accordingly. JMO
