Week 10 NFFC & NBC Sports Data

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Sep 29, 2008 4:00 am

Here is the scoring data from the first three weeks of our competition thanks to a fine young NFFC owner:

Week 3
NFFC Classic Main Event

No. 1 - 339.14 avg points
No. 2 - 380.12
No. 3 - 351.99
No. 4 - 360.70
No. 5 - 367.38
No. 6 - 360.45
No. 7 - 358.28
No. 8 - 361.64
No. 9 - 319.54
No. 10 - 349.11
No. 11 - 353.06
No. 12 - 346.83
No. 13 - 351.18
No. 14 - 337.81
AVE per spot = 352.66

NBC Sports NFFC Primetime Main Event

No. 1 - 365.79
No. 2 - 367.74
No. 3 - 371.18
No. 4 - 360.11
No. 5 - 380.17
No. 6 - 362.07
No. 7 - 376.28
No. 8 - 368.43
No. 9 - 352.84
No. 10 - 364.55
No. 11 - 361.17
No. 12 - 384.06
AVE per spot = 367.87

Combined Slots NFFC Classic
1-3 = 357.08
4-7 = 361.70
8-11 = 345.84
12-14 = 345.27

Combined Slots NFFC Primetime
1-3 = 368.24
4-6 = 367.45
7-9 = 365.85
10-12 = 369.93

There's more to come, but I thought these were very interesting. The 12-team format is incredibly interesting with how close the draft slots are, while it's obvious that the No. 9 spot is affected by the Tom Brady injury.

Nice info Greg but I don't think Rob classifies as "young". LOL.

Phone 2 is 0.96 points ahead of the average.
Phone 1 is 4.38 points ahead of the average.

There are a lot of veteran players in the phone leagues who just couldn't make the live drafts this year, so give them credit for correct lineup decisions through three weeks.

I was just making an observation and think that it means nothing. All of these stats are better reviewed after the course of a full season.
I like the league totals because it possibly indicates a more astute group. This is where all of those lineup decision points that get left on the table show up.
Congrats to LV 5 for leading the way in the Primetime Event and to LV 4 in the NFFC Event.

League totals are very misleading, it doesn't show astuteness at all. It shows evenness...

If someone drafted really well and has a stacked bench that hurts the league points total. That doesn't show one league is better or has more astute owners...

I've never understood the relevance of this data. The totals now are about 1% different from each other. How does that show any dominance at all?

Along with your valid point, the totals can be skewed simply by the owners that did and did not start a guy like Lance Moore, Bret Favre, or R.Brown last week.

Not surprised at all to see LV4 leading the way in the NFFC, as this league is living up to the pre-draft hype.

Lots of talented owners, and VERY few mistakes made on weekly lineup decisions.
