NFFC Survey Results Give Us Good Direction

KDS is a great addition to this game. However, how much did KDS help or hurt each owner in regards to Fred Jackson, Sproles, Gronkowski or Cam Newton? Closer to the draft would be my suggestion, but really, how much did it make a difference?

I guess I am a common person. I actually like getting my draft spot sooner than later. I don't see how wanting a top 2-4 or a bottom 10-14 will change that drastically because Foster's knee is giving him trouble or White slipped on a banana peel. I rarely want pick 1 or 2, but generally like a top 4-5. Give me my draft position today so I can start to perpare...

This is the beauty of this discussion: Some like to get their draft spots early and some like them later. And Joe's points are spot on: The rules shouldn't always be geared towards the most serious player who needs every advantage to analyze every aspect of the game. If we're going to grow this contest to the masses, we need to understand that not every single owner needs or wants all of these changes.

So what I'm asking -- and you folks will tell me in the survey, not in a message board debate now -- is whether getting more folks signed up earlier because like Pete they want to prepare for their draft spots as early as possible is a wanted item or not. If not, we'll announce them all at once, as late as I can. But there's an easy way to do this for folks who want to know their draft spots earlier.

Here's an example:

Let's say we have 60 teams signed up on Aug. 7th for the Saturday, 10 am Las Vegas Primetime and these 60 teams want their draft spots early. We randomly put these owners in 5 different leagues where we run KDS appropriately. Everyone is assigned their draft spots, but no leagues are assigned. In fact, all of these owners won't be assigned to leagues until the other Primetime leagues from that date are formed. We won't have leagues formed with early draft spot teams and separate ones for late draft spot teams. All will be mixed together like the WCOFF did in the past as we assign all the No. 1 teams randomly to whatever the final number of leagues ends up being, then the No. 2's, 3's, etc. Everyone will be mixed together in full leagues, but everyone who wanted their draft spots early will have gotten them and everyone who wanted their draft spots later would have gotten them.

KDS was still used and it's no different than what the WCOFF and FFPC do with their early draft spot announcements. Now, does that make more sense?

Everyone gets what they want, as long as we have the right amount of teams for full leagues in those time slots and locations. I think it can work if you owners want it and it would lead to more early signups.

Thoughts? I hope I explained it well enough to understand.

This makes perfect sense Greg. I believe its the same thing as having 2 weekends of drafts for the same main events. I think there is a majority consensus approving of that, so I see this as being no different.

I actually set my kds around tier's at either RB or WR. When the draft rolls around there have been injuries and the next thing you know I'm drafting from the top of a tier verses the bottom of a tier. It would be nice if we got drafts spots later verses earlier.

1. Most players use tiers
2. Most likely they do not interpret and understand them the way you guys do.
3. Most determineKDS predicated off of the first 3-4 rounds only. At that point most draft for value and position.

I would consider myself part of that group as well. The two years I did this I had the same approach toward KDS. Give me one of the top 4-5 RB's or slide me down the toward the end. This did not change for me even though I decided to change my drafting approach and target three players regardless of availability. I got all three because of an early draft slot and it's worked out well.

Bottom line is most guys want their spot and will deal with late breaking news if 1-2 guys slide down the board due to injuries. I totally understand your position, I just think the masses have a different approach and thought process.

The most popular times on these boards are leading up to the draft positions being revealed. Everyone wants their league pulled first. That must tell you something. Good luck guys.
