NFFC Poker Tournament

Post by KahunaSports » Thu Jun 17, 2004 7:25 am

Hey everyone first off thanks to Capt. Hook for getting this one going.

We also have a poker event setup but for now it is only open to people that participate in our event. After August 15th if we do not have the 150 we will open it to the public.

The buy-in is $179 and will be held at Binion's Horseshoe on Saturday, September 4th at 4:30 PM.

As Hook stated, when you do these private groups there are costs the casinos are passing on for staff, etc. These are not like your walk-in poker events going on. These will be closed to our group so yes the buy-in's may be a little high but again you are playing within a closed group.

Remember though, you always have a choice to play or not and hopefully you will choose to play because the poker part is just another added attraction.

See you guys in Vegas.

I love this! "there are costs the casinos are passing on for staff, etc. These are not like your walk-in poker events going on" Dealers get payed the bottom scale downtown. They live on tips. So guess who gets the rest. Oh yeah they're doing it out of the kindness of thier hearts. How much are you getting on the kick back is my question? Folks lets just do the football with the up front costs. If you want to play poker later I'm sure we can get a couple of tables on the strip later at a good price. If 50 players with money show up believe me they always have room.

Walla Walla, you have no idea what you're talking about and you are making a complete ass out of yourself. Let's see you put together a tourney with a lower cost...if not...STFU.

Hook...I'm in but I'm not sure if I'm playing in the NFFC or Kahuna yet, can't do both so must decide on one. I'm already signed up for the other poker tourney & WCOFF the following weekend.

This thing is going to be a beauty. Greg takes care of his people. Compete against Gekko. Were you in the WCOFF last year? Though I saw a post or two with JB in it?
Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

Pity I'm not going to Vegas this year, will draft in NY.

Now let me see if I can understand Mr. Walla Walla's points. There's a bunch of guys coming to Vegas who are spending $1,250 to play in a fantasy football event. They are also staying overnight in a Vegas hotel and will have travel expenses, meal expenses and other expenses best left in Vegas. Many of these same guys like to play poker and they have the chance to spend a few hours with the guys who they will compete against in high stakes fantasy football. The opportunity for comradeship and smack talk seems really compelling.

But wait, a $50 fee over and above the prize money pool. Wow, that kills it. 50 bucks. Can't possibly justify $50. Nope, way too much. I'm sure most of the guys in this high stake football thing will agree, $50...way too much.

Okay, Mr. Walla Walla, I just wanted to know if I have summarized your position correctly. Does seem pretty silly, though.

Hook, thanks for setting this up and let's keep the talk positive. If you don't want to compete in the poker tournament for whatever reason, that's fine. Just let others decide if sitting with 50 other NFFC buddies would be worth the price of admission. James and Kahuna have an alternative, but since we have to wait until Aug. 15 to decide if there is room for our group, I asked Perry to set something up. He has and now let's leave this thread for those who want to play, not to question Perry's motives. He is doing us a favor and as an NFBC member is one of the family. Thanks again.

JB, we're going to recruit you heavily! Ask the NFBC guys if they were satisfied with our event and two full bags of goodies and drinks. We're growing and we'd love to add you to the mix. The mention of our baseball event this week in Sports Illustrated won't hurt at all either, so join us and compete against the best in the WCOFF and the NFFC. Oh, then play poker in both too!!!

JerseyPaul, Not all of us are highrollers like you. :) I was just trying to point out the costs. Theres nothing wrong with putting together a poker game. As long as everyone knows what they're getting. That was my only point. How many would have known that 50 would be skimmed off the top if it wasn't asked? I guess as JB stated I'm an ass for asking and pointing these things out.
