Any top FA pickups this year ?

I was just thinking about free agent pick ups that make a huge difference.

Like Jamal Charles a couple years back, Pierre Thomas a year before that etc.

It just doesnt seem like any Free Agent pick ups have been huge this year.

I am thinking back to the skill players that went for big bucks.

D. Moore (Oak) has he helped anyone so far ?

R. Torain was the big RB pick up and he followed up his big game with 2 duds and a benching.

M. Morris get's an opportunity and sucks...

Torrey Smith might be the best one and he hasn't exactly been huge.

Tebow ? off and on I guess but QB is the easiest position to acquire a decent starter.
unless its a monster stat guy like Vick last year.

Maybe Helu now. although he was drafted and moslty kept and in WASH he might be benched anytime....

Does this feel different this year ?

The waiver wire is definitely obsolete this year Todd.

To make it worse, it seems like whenever someone picks someone up, the following week they are just dreadful.

This year is all about 4 players....

QB Aaron Rodgers
RB Fred Jackson
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Wes Welker

Jackson isn't #1 at his position, but where he was taken, and the fact that Rodgers, Calvin, and Welker are so much better than the rest at their positions, if you don't have these guys, it makes it tough.

I was thinking about that the other day. Last year we saw Tolbert, Brandon Lloyd, LeGarrette Blount, Michael Vick, and in most leagues, Peyton Hillis come off the waiver wire to save some seasons.

Cam Newton and Fred Davis are the only real gems I can think of from the waiver wire this year.The next best of the best is Victor Cruz, Eric Decker, and maybe even Early Doucet.

Don't forget about Sproles. He was drafted in the 13th round+ in most leagues and he is a top 10 RB, if not top 5.

RobR - yeah those are some pretty good ones I forgot about (Decker, Cruz) but still not those huge diamonds in the rough that seem to win you a league. Cam Newton has been awesome but at QB it just feels like OK so now I have to decide between Eli Manning and Cam Newton - not a giant upgrade....

I started thinking about this because a couple different people have asked me which OAK WR I like and it was easy to answer - none of them. Made me think of the hype on Den Moore and that led to the Torrain hype etc.

Every year is a little different - keeps you guessing.

Already burned once on Denarius Moore earlier in the season when he fell off the map. Guess who picked him up in three leagues this week? Can't wait for his 14-201-3TD line this week. I mean 2 for 20.
