Dave Clum Wins NFFC Primetime $100,000 Prize

CONGRATULATIONS to Dave Clum of Pembroke Pines, Florida for winning the $100,000 grand prize in the 4th annual NFFC Primetime. Dave won Chicago League 1 in the Classic and Primetime leagues and was one of only a handful of guys to have teams in both Championship Rounds this year. He took that Primetime team to the ultimate prize, winning the overall title and $100,000 in dramatic fashion.

Dave entered Week 16 in 8th place in the Championship Round, 43+ points out of the lead. As of Monday morning, he was in 10th place and 64.18 points out of first place, but he had Drew Brees, Darren Sproles and Julio Jones still playing. Bradley Shairson was in first place, with no players going on Monday Night.

By halftime, Dave had shaved off more than 40 points from that lead, but Brees opened the second half with an interception before throwing a TD pass midway in the third. Dave got within 4 points after the third quarter, but a 3 and out by the Saints followed by a reception and a fumble by Jones that turned into a Saints TD left Shairson in the lead by 2 points with 8 minutes to go.

The lead finally went to Clum on an 8-yard scramble by Brees that wasn't nullified by a holding call in the end zone, but it didn't matter as the Saints wanted to give Brees the single-season passing yardage record in front of their hometown fans and Brees added on more yards and sealed Clum's title with a TD pass to Sproles, perfect justice for the incredible comeback by Dave's Ashley Bears!!!

CONGRATS again Dave and great job Bradley. You had a solid, solid team that had no defense for Brees. But great job in your runnerup finish.

Dave Clum fought through injuries to his first two picks and his 5th pick to win the $100,000 grand prize in the NFFC Primetime. It wasn't the perfect draft, but finding Drew Brees in the 4th Round, Darren Sproles in the 12th and landing solid picks in Rounds 6-8 helped the cause in a big way.

Drafting out of the 7th spot in Chicago League 1, Clum's Ashley Bear went 12-1 and had the most points in the league, 10th overall heading into the Championship Round. An incredible Week 16 led to the $100,000 prize.

It's also interesting to note that Dave drafted this team on the first weekend of our two weekends for the NFFC Primetime. The majority of Primetime teams were drafted after the Thursday Night Game. Ironically, Sproles likely fell to the 12th Round in this league before he excelled on Thursday Night against the Packers. Brees also was a bargain here at Pick No. 42 before his big game at Lambeau Field in the NFL Opener.

Look for the two-weekend/week of Primetime drafts to continue in 2012.
