Give Us Some Feedback On The Live Drafts
Hello Greg, Tom, Ryan,
Please realize that better food is just one small component to making your live drafts more of an "Event".
I like that you are stating that is your intent, but food seems to have overtaken all else in this thread.
Please also focus on some of the other aspects such as the facilitators, draft boards (the electronic board idea is awesome if it can be done affordably), timing of the ancillary drafts to make this more of a weekend than a day, the introduction of league winners (I think that is a great idea to reward previous year successes), a casino location, east coast poker event, etc.
I personally like any idea that makes this a weekend for me rather than a day.....one reason I'm so hyped up for a casino location.

Glenn,
That is what I talked about in two posts. Is the food that big a deal? We eat multiple times every day of our lives. Unless they are going to put out some real special (and expensive) spread, food is just food. I can go 2-3 hours without wings while enjoying my high stakes fantasy football draft that I spend months looking forward to and can only enjoy once per year.
I am all about making the football drafting specific as exciting, professional, and innovative as possible with the money I pump into the event. If I want food and drinks I will get them after or between the drafts. I am perfectly fine with some basic snacks, cookies, fingers foods, chips, etc to hold those over who want to snack.
No one really commented on my points so maybe I am in the minority on this stuff.

Hey there James,
I liked some of your ideas and I think I even included one of them in my last post.
I agree that the emphasis should be to make this an Event.
I do however believe better food is a must. However, I think the good food should be concentrated on the time between the two drafts of the doubleheader. The spread should be put out at the end of the Classic, keeping the players in the hotel rather than scattering to different locations to eat. It'll keep the players together, talking football, reviewing the drafts, etc. and I believe that'll help make this an Event as well. Anything that helps the participants in this contest get to know each other better is a good thing. Its one of my favorite things about the live experience.
That said, I just don't want food to be the only focus. I want that feeling that people discuss when talking about the early years of the WCOFF.
Walking into a massive draft room, tons of tables filled with fellow drafters, and an experience that will make your season.
I was hoping to get that experience last weekend in AC & left a bit disappointed.
Since it sounds like the NFFC is looking to provide that experience, my suggestions are geared to what would make it that for me.

My vote is to keep the draft in Chicago, and close to O'hare.
For what it's worth, a new casino is scheduled to open in about a year. The location will be Devon and River Rd. I'm sure there will great lodging nearby. Maybe Sept 2010 will be too early, but by 2011 for sure.

Leaving Chicago for STL?
Why? To save money because Fanball is based there?
As a Cub fan I must object.
Question: How many drafters in Chicago fly in? How many are close enough to drive in and drive home after? Just curious.
How will this market be affected?
What choices will your high stakes players based in and around the Chicago area, who historically travel the following weekend, do with their resources if traveling twice is off the table that time of the year?
Will they phone it in? Will this help or hinder your 3-city live draft concept?
If I am going to travel from Chicago to draft in a high stakes FF league, it wouldn't be to STL.
The plus for Fanball is that they have a presence in that community and can probably fill the four leagues that Chicago has been drawing with their friends alone. They can also tag their local business partners/sponsors for swag and cash.
It makes business sense in that respect but to leave the Chicago Market without even TRYING to develop or reach into it would be a poor business decision IMHO.

I'm all for Atlantic City as a Drafting Site...gambling, plenty of places to eat, boardwalk, shows, & shopping outlets...the NFFC has one Drafting Site in Las Vegas, why not A.C. as well?!?!
I also agree with Glenn X...we need some HOTTIES as facilitators!
