14 Team Leagues vs. 12 Team Leagues
Greg,
Not sure if I'm reiterrating some comments already made, if so, sorry for being redundent (but from the above posts, it seems like wading thru 7 pages of this thread might be tedious).
Last year was the first year in a NFFC league and first ever in a 14 team format. I really enjoyed it!
I had the same trepadations about a 14 team league as I did 3 years ago when I first played in the 12 team format at the *****. It was just something I wasn't use to and I didn't know quite what to expect, but once I did it, all good! I think once folks try it, they'll appreciate it.
And, I agree with the above posts, satellites are a great way to introduce the 14 team concept and BBDS.
Speaking of satellites, didn't you say we could get together a BBDS satellite???? Sounds like fun to me! (Have I ever met a draft I didn't like...NO!!!)
Lastly, I think it's great that you are pro-active with your contest and willing to change, make improvements and give us owners a voice...thanks!
We will be heavily pimpin' the NFFC on our show!

HOOK, as you have probably already found out, SNAKE never met a thread he didn't hijack to hear himself think, whether about FF or anything else.
Back to the thread purpose, I throw my hat in the ring to publicize the BBDS and satellites. And for those of you wanting to put together a satellite league with whatever number of teams you want and whatever league format you want, you'll find Greg and Tom pretty accomodating as during the off-season we have put together 2 team events and 4 satellite events with one of the team events being a 15-teamer.

1) SNAKE (SNAKE)
2) LLCoolEddieJ (Eddie Gillis)
3) Johnny Junkie (Johnny Frisella)
4) RouteShe (Jeff Clampitt)
5) BlackHand (Frank Mammola)
6) FF4Charity (Rob Benetti)
7) Taxes (Adam Miller)
8) God Loves Ya (Patrick Welsh)

10) Sack (Ken Magner)
11) Scareface (Rick Hart)
12) Team Thompson (Don Thompson)
13) Poncho (Carlos Perez)
14) Woozy Wazzy (Billy Wasosky) This will be the best league of the year IMO! The person that finishes 14th in all liklihood will be cashing in other leagues. [/QUOTE]Just got back from a 12 hour drive from Vermont with the wife and 3 kids! .... WHERE IS THE CAPTAIN MORGAN??!!!!!
It is going to be a hell of a league Jeff, and although it is a DC, the "BillyWaz Memorial" (the very next night) showcases 8 of the same owners and some other "big swinging dicks" of the NFFC world (Tomatoes, Hammer, etc.)
Johnny said it best when he stated that some of the satellites (these 2 and others) will be much more competitive than any main event league.
Bragging rights will be at a premium, although the check will be "slightly" smaller than in the main!

Billy.....there is too many newbie's in the main event.......Us message board studs eat newbie's for lunch
P.S....knowing my luck I will get the King of queens in my main event with him getting th #1 pick.. ....Im Pretty sure Richie Primo was in my main two times in a row....I think Tom needs a new system I will have to ask Tom to look into that for me I could be wrong....

3) I agree with those who think that Greg should publicize the BDDS variation so that more people would be familiar with it and thus feel better about trying it, whether it's in satellites leagues or side events. HOWEVER it is not a perfect system as others have noted. What would happen when two or three owners all bid $1000 - back to a coin flip - so we didn't get very far away from random draw did we?
Peace - out In your example Captain, I believe we would have gotten a far distance away from a random draw. Instead of 14 vying for the top spot there would only be 3. And in this format, if 3 people did as you suggested; bid their entire FA pool for that spot, I would feel pleased because I believe I would only be playing against 10. But, that's part of the uniqueness of this system, each owner has to determine what each spot is worth to him.

Johnny didnt you have the number one pick last year, with your partner.I would think you would like tom's system.
Back to the question, i too like the 14 team league we have.I think it is better for the more prepared fantasy player.AND since i won 4 NFFC events last year why switch.I also would like to go bbds , i think it's the fairest way , takes away looking for a lucky pick . IF you want that high pick this year especially , you will have to pay. That would leave the other fantasy owners who dont put their money up with plenty of free agent money.Makes you think , which way to go.Myself if cant get that top 3 , dont put up any money and get that late pick with plenty of dough.
