nelson , i see your point but you are in at least a dozen or more leagues with a partner but for teams that do a couple ME teams higher league prises are nice. 600 more is not enuf in my opinion.

With all due respect Frank, I actually looked at it as if I only had one ME team. What would be my goal?

1. If I finish first in my one league does $600 really make it or break for me? Nope.
2. 2nd or 3rd gets me $300 or $150? Not even close
3. If I do make it into the Overall race in week 14 then I'm looking to get 1st place, but if I had a good run and don't quite make it then it would still be a really nice payout if you happen to finish in the top 5. Also there wouldn't be that huge disparity between 1st and 2nd like it's been previously.

FYI: If I'm going into a league focused on league payouts then I would be looking for at least an 85% payout. Anything less, then there should be an overall prize that makes it enticing to join. In my opinion the added league payouts while taking 25k from the overall is not enough to do that for me.
Winning isn't everything, but the will to win is.

glad you got respect . :D :D bottom line is you might look at it as if you had one ME team but reality is you have many as a partner. im not knocking you for it at all. i always wish you the best. my thinking is if you beat 13 other teams your payout should be higher. after MR. TAXMAN takes his share what is the difference if its 65k , 75k , 100k. plus its a crapshoot anyway the final 3 week playoff.

5th $1,400.00
6th $1,400.00
7th $1,400.00
8th $1,400.00
$600 extra isn't where I was going when raising the league prizes either.

I too would like to see 2nd, 3rd, ,4th-10th overall get a little more as well. I just don't see the point for 75K. In your proposal Greg, you had $98,100 going to overall, and $9,800 going to each league.

I would rather see something along these lines....

Overall -- League
1st $50,000.00 --- $6,500.00
2nd $15,000.00 --- $3,000.00
3rd $7,500.00 --- $1,400.00
4th $3,000.00
5th $1,400.00
6th $1,400.00
7th $1,400.00
8th $1,400.00

(keep consolation/combined the same).

Now you are talking $1,500 MORE for first place, and $500 more for 2nd in each league!!! Along with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th overall prizes that are better, for roughly exactly the same total payout based on 15 or so leagues. (If needed, just cut the prizes cut the consolation/combined prizes down a bit).

As someone who has won a grand prize in a national contest, I can tell you the money is nice, but knowing you were the best is something far more desirable IMO. The difference between 50K and 75K.....simply not much difference when you could raise EVERYTHING else up.

Besides, if someone is interested in ONE big overall prize, there are TWO other options.....NFFC Primetime and FFPC. ;)

[/QUOTE]very much like this and as this grows every year like it should then the grand prize can go up.

Jules, feel free to add your suggestions that would appeal to a player. Only higher on 1st place in each league?? I'm open to your suggestions. My suggestion is at the beginning of the thread...I like best a $50K Grand Prize, bigger ROI for leagues.

Again, a $600 bump at the league level for $25K less carrot doesn't make much sense to me as a player. I'm not sure it would be worth it to me as a player.

I also Like Rob's idea of a more balanced overall distribution (but not the 40K Overall, I think you gotta keep it at 50K or higher).

I too would like more for league prizes, agree with Jules 50 grand still big enough carrot and put the rest of the money for the leagues.Billys 6500 would be a nice start or even a little higher if it can be done.

the nffc is the best game around. doing like billy put down is a start. as this grows more and more each year the grand prize will go up. but as it goes now based on the same numbers it looks great.

Greg,

For what it's worth, if you're going to come down from the $100K grand prize then why not simply augment 1st place league prizes?

Second and third places are nice, but personally I don't value an increase in those prizes compared to the lure of the overall grand prize.

Would the numbers make sense for you if you the Classic came down to $75000 overall and then paid 6000, 2500, 1000 to the top 3 league finishers?

I understand and even personally like a couple of these suggestions. However, there's little doubt that reducing the Overall Prize for an event that's already considered a niche contest is catering to the player who already plays in the Classic and does nothing for growth.

Why would a new player used to the 12-team format divert some of his investment capital to an unfamiliar 14-team format with two 12-team Championships available when the carrot isn't even comparable? The reality is he won't.

However if growth isn't the goal and it is instead to keep the Classic as a living breathing ancillary contest for those who already play and love the event, then these suggestions will certainly accomplish that.
