Has this been proposed before?

To me, the most frustrating aspect of this game is seeing players that I drafted or picked up via FAAB (but didn't START this week) rack up good points sitting on my bench.

Has there ever been a proposal to NOT have to pick a starting lineup before the games are played, but rather wait until after the week's games have been played, and then choose the 10 players from ALL of your players that you want to insert as your starting lineup for that week? It would still be a head to head matchup that would determine the winner for that week - but it would remove the frustration of seeing your benched players rack up good points and not getting to use the 10 best players on your team for that week.

A manager would still have to draft or FAAB his players, but it would remove some of the "luck" that is involved when having to pick a starting lineup before the games are played and make the game much more enjoyable. Has this ever been proposed before?

It's called the DC league. maybe the one for you next year.

And this just highlights the point that the National Draft Championship has only 56 teams maybe because the DCs aren't prominently promoted? I'll bet less than 20-30% of NFFC players have ever heard of DCs? I hadn't until last year but I hang out on the boards a lot. For the many players who don't, maybe some direct email advertising next year would help?

Mattjb, I just looked at the rules for that league after you mentioned it. It seems as though there is no FAAB during the season. As fast as things change in the NFL with injurys, etc., I would not want to limit myself to only the draft. Are there any leagues like that that would have FAAB?

Just to add the line-up decisions keep me interested mon-sat so i'm not sure I would find it as much fun.

I did my first DC league with waivers this year and so far it has been a lot of fun. I still like the regular leagues better but it's a nice change of pace.

That is the problem I have with DC leagues. You draft and then tune out. I find that kind of boring. I am not saying I will or would never do one. I just find the format much more luck based given the fantasy player is only challenged with one of the multiple fantasy football skills (drafting).

The skill of working the free agent wire doesn't apply. The skill of starting the right players doesn't apply. You pick a number of mid and later round fliers that have little to no value and only get value if other guys get injured (more luck).

Not saying those who have done well at this format are not deserving of praise. Just don't find the format to be overly attractive personally.
