I will say this though... I don't pretend to be a good fantasy football player but I'm not clueless - I have played DC's and have done poorly. There's a method to the madness that I won't put the effort forth to figure out. The DC's mix a deep knowledge of team depth charts, position allocation, slotting strategy and prior DC experience. It's imperative to think out EVERY draft pick. The season's success is a result of laborious team construction. My hat is off to those winners.
come now Mike, you're TOO generous

Both formats require skills to succeed, some the same, some different, both challenging.
Either way, I need to improve my skill level in both formats.

Wow ...
1) So you tell me you don't care what I (or anyone else) has to say.
2) I don't present my side of the discussion since you tell me you don't want to hear it.
3) You declare yourself as the winner of the argument because your the only one in it.
4) You tell others you already beat me at this argument even though you somehow don't have a clue who I am because you don't remember me. (I guess you must have individually beat everyone in this argument that you had with yourself since you don't remember me).
You are a piece of work.
Now your telling Wayne (one of the best fantasy players, who is in like 17 leagues and has played both formats (unlike you), and has actually heard my argument .... that he is a follower because he is open minded and heard what I had to say and reevaluated his opinion?
I realize you don't care what anyone has to say and are dead close minded ... but to attack people who are open minded ... wow ... that surprises even me. New low for you Renman.

Coltfan,
When do we get to hear about about these secret good points? If the conversation wasn't about me, I am sure my name was not brought up right? I think we both know the answer to that question.
God,
It isn't rocket science God. Picking players who generate lots of points is what it takes to win all fantasy football leagues, DC included. Knowing depth charts on teams and knowing which talented players could emerge if the right sequence of injuries occur requires the ability to read. If reading is a skill, it applies to all fantasy formats.
If you can tell me that prior to the season you were able to predict the injuries to Reggie Bush and P. Thomas that resulted in Mr. Ivory being a productive player in week 6 than you are one helluva skilled fantasy player. I would argue that a large amount of luck occured that resulted in Ivory producing a single fantasy point for the owner who stockpiled him.
As a test, I would like you and Mike to outline for me (using your DC skill) which starting players are going to get high ankle sprains, injures shoulders and pulled hammys in the next few weeks that will result in the players you "looked way into the future" for to draft suddenly becoming fantasy stars.
Morons would win DC events too if those were the mainstream events. Only the higher level, more astute, more passionate fantasy guys even play DC's. So they win them. The occasional "morons" who join those leagues have no idea how to make up their roster and are easy money for the guys with experience in that format.
For the record, good fantasy players in regular formats are making moves many weeks ahead. For instance, I picked up A. Armstrong and D. Branch BEFORE they started producing. I picked up O. Daniels when everyone in the industry was saying he looked horrible. I traded (in a home league) for M. Lynch because I thought he could likely be traded in real football and could end up having a role again. You are a good fantasy player and do the exact same thing and know exactly what I am talking about.
This entire pointless debate started because earlier in the season I made a harmless comment expressing the opinion that the "draft and hope" format in DC leagues was somewhat boring to me and involved a bit more luck in my opinion than leagues that challenge you in all fantasy football skills.
I had no idea that Mike had a history of good success in DC leagues and would get so sensitive about such a meaningless opinion. So here we are again in a "lets attack renman for having an opinion even though he can support it with reasonable logic" thread.
Is that really interesting?
How about guys having the guts to engage in FRIENDLY debate about the topic. How about someone outlining where my logic (that I have bullet pointed out in detail) is so wrong? No one ever seems to want to do that. Silence speaks volumes sometimes.

[/QUOTE]THANK YOU! Finally someone outlines a viewpoint with some logic other than me. I am fully aware that DC leagues go deeper and require knowledge of depth charts the far exceed what is required in regular formats.
My point is that for a number of those deep roster players to produce real fantasy football points unpredictable (LUCK BASED) injuries and roster change in real football have to occur. There are a ton of teams in the regular format who drafted B. Scott as a draft and stash type player (assuming it wasn't a team who handcuffed him with Benson). If Benson gets hurt and Scott emerges with a roll and produces. The owner who drafted and stashed him got lucky. This does not make that owner a bad guy. This isn't a character flaw.
A ton of this goes on in DC leagues. Does it require skill to identify guys who are really talented and could emerge? Of course it does. Does it often require luck for that player to ever see the field? Yes, if does.
My hat is off to guys who consistently win in this format too. As more and more people start to understand the nuances of this format and how to construct their roster/draft... you will see more new names having success.

You are a boring guy to argue with. If we bring back our previous discussion on this topic, you will see me REPEATEDLY asking you NICELY to outline your viewpoints and logic on the topic.
You wouldn't do it.
Here you are flat out making up that I said I didn't want your viewpoints. You better go back and start deleting posts...lol

You first presented your side and then flat said you didn't care what I or anyone else had to say on the matter since your mind was made up (so I didn't post it). You say you want a friendly debate then you spit in my face and tell me your have no interest in my point of view after I listen to yours.
Kind of hard to take your plea for friendly debate seriously. (do I need to dig out your old posts and quote you on this?)

Ugly,
Cut and paste where I ever said what you just invented. I just had a client meeting that went bad and I need to laugh hysterically. I am asking you as a fellow fantasy football friend. Please cheer me up.
Yes, dig out my old posts where I said "I don't want to hear your opinions on the subject..." Please don't doctor them like some fools do in message board land.
I just tried to go back and bring back up the thread we discussed this in before because I know for a fact I SPECIFICALLY asked you to outine how DC leagues have less luck required and more skill than traditional format leagues. I asked for this because I truly was wanting to see your logic.
Friendly debate starts with not making things up someone else never said.
