Tom: your week 8 vibe for which top player is next to go down with a serious injury?

Though I’m not about to call him an old Marvin Harrison. Not yet anyway The most common thing I heard about Marvin during the summer was "until he shows signs of slowing down, he's still a stud". He actually WAS showing some signs even during last year - people just didn't pay attention. Well, this year, he's certainly showed definite signs. Maybe it IS time to call him "old".

I believe Harrison's situation is more a product of his injury than a serious decline in his game. At some point, though, he will reach an age where he is no longer an elite WR. Maybe this is the year. I'm just not convinced that's the case because I believe the injury is the primary issue here. He was on pace for 85 receptions before getting hurt so it's not like he was terrible before the injury.

Tom: it's okay to remove harrison from 'elite' status. He won't be there for the rest of his career.

Four years later, Rudi’s the one hobbling and Kenny Watson is making a lot of people think he should be the starter. Sound familiar?

You better get healthy quick, Rudi. People who think Watson should be the starter over Rudi don't know squat about football. Watson is 29 years old, he's got average speed and runs with little power, especially compared to Rudi. He's been a career b/u and rightfully so. He's knows the Cinci offense, has good hands and has been a very nice change of pace back, but that's all he'll ever be. Rudi may lose his job to someone eventually, but it won't be Watson.

And Alex, I agree about Rudi vs. Watson. The thing is, though, Rudi isn't healthy and doesn't appear to be getting healthy anytime soon. And Watson's next in line. Dillon returned from his injury in 2003 but he wasn't the best RB on the team then - Rudi was. I don't think Watson is more talented than Rudi but if Rudi doesn't get healthy it won't matter.

IF YOU AT MANNING WE DROPS BACK HIS FIRST READ IS UNQUESTIONABLY WAYNE. I AM A MULIT HARRISON OWNER AND I JUST LOOK HOW MANNING DROPS BACK AND LOOKS LEFT. HOWEVER I DO KNOW MARVIN LOVES TO HAVE STATS. HE IS NOT VOCAL ABOUT DEMANDING THE BALL BUT HE DOES CARE ABOUT HIS STAT LINE.

Harrison was still Manning's top target in the first three games though it was close. Harrison had 26 targets; Wayne had 25. And yes Harrison only had 1 TD in the first three games. Last season he didn't score until his fifth game so he was ahead of last season's pace and he scored 12 in 2006.

Again, too soon to be writing Harrison off in terms of ability in my opinion. The issue here to me seems to be his knee injury. I think it's worse than the team is letting on. The fact he was on a snap count Monday night is a clear sign that's the case.
