Hey Greg (or Tom!) - do you know how the tables will be set up at the drafts? Similar to what we had for the baseball versions?

Also - can you make up a 'moderator instruction sheet' for tips like 'speak to your table, not the whole room..' (what else should be on that list?)

Finally - I know people took a bunch of digital pics at the Baseball drafts... of the room and boards, and the events, etc. Could you set up some kind of a clearing house to gather in the pics from that event and from the upcoming one in football and make them available for participants? I'm sure there were angles to the event that I never got to see. And no, it wasn't because I was passed out drunk by round 8...

It was such a big event and it was hard to take the time to relax and enjoy the experience with all of the flurry of activity and running to the other event, etc.

Dyv, right now the setup is planned for the same U-shaped setup, with 10 spots down the left and right hand sides (space for 5 teams on each side) and 8 spots at the bottom of the U (for 4 teams). As you know, that setup allows the draft facilitator to walk right up to each person on the clock and announce the picks to everyone. We will do a better job of training each draft facilitator for football so that they all do the same things. We were left short-handed in Vegas for baseball and that caused us to scramble a wee bit. That won't happen in football.

But as you also know, those U's take up a lot of space, some of it unwanted space that forces the draft facilitors to call out the picks for other leagues to hear. We have lots of photos from baseball and some are on our baseball site at www.fantasybaseballchampionship.com. Maybe I'll create a file here for everyone to see.

Because the U's take up so much space, we are experimenting with some unique setups here right now that might work better than the U. We're working on that just to see if we can utilize the space better and still give everyone enough room and the right of privacy for their draft sheets.

Each team will have space for two spots and if you're drafting alone, you can remove the second chair and take up both spots. It worked well in baseball and should work well again in football.

We're looking for draft moderators and will pay them for three good hours of work. Bring your friends to help work the draft boards and we'll give them some seed money for fun in Las Vegas, New York and Chicago!

The clock should start once the moderator repeats the selection. The sticker guy can catch up, plus, the person next to draft can hear his neighbor announce his pick, so that shouldn't matter that everyone didn't hear it at first.

The faster, the better.

As far as setup, Could you do 3 rows of tables, sorta like school? Everyone is closer to each other and everyone can hear the picks without the moderator yelling it out.

If 5-6 teams call out their picks within 5 seconds of each other, the facilitator will not be able to catch up. What will happen is that the facilitators will take a 1-2 minute break (with the clock stopped), locate the stickers and place them. So that team is getting some additional time to make their pick. Perhaps this was just a problem with baseball (with all the additional players to look through)?

We'll do it one minute from the time the sticker is applied and try to be as consistent as possible with every league. I think everyone who was at baseball will agree that the drafts went mighty fast and guys were ready with their selections sometimes before the draft facilitators were. We want to make sure that everyone hears the picks, that they can see the stickers and that the next selector knows when he/she is on the clock. Even at one full minute per pick, we'll get through 18 rounds in no time.

Phil, you are right on with that. We have set it up with three rows and classroom style and the setup makes a lot of sense as everyone is closer to the board, the draft facilitator talks right to the league without shouting the picks for other leagues to hear and the space is cut by at least 1/3. The concern is the privacy of the people who have others behind them. We are working on this, but we think we are onto something -- until you figured it out of course!

Greg, as far as privacy, it shouldn't be a problem, if you see a guy standing and trying to look over somwones shoulder, send him to the principals office.

You're right Phil. Better yet, I'll walk around the room with a yardstick, like Sister Mary Mary used to do in Catholic School.

But seriously, we have spaced the rows out enough to allow enough privacy and avoid people looking at other's sheets. We have the draft board and rows set up here in the office and this has great potential. It also leaves more room for the bar in the back of the room.
