I've avoided this discussion up to now because I didn't want to bad mouth a competitor, but the fact that some of our guys lost money to his foolish shenanigans really has me upset. The bottom line is that he came onto our message boards without asking to promote his poker game that was set up just for fantasy football players. I allowed it because we were unable to form a poker game at the last minute in Vegas and on Saturday night our guys were looking for an alternative. They went over to the Kahuna Frenzy event knowing full well that James could pull in some local ringers to win it all.

I also knew that James had a commitment to Binion's for a minimum number of players, but I certainly never expected him to fill them with locals. From talking to him on the phone, he said he was close enough to reaching that minimum to either eat the financial loss or pro-rate the poker prize money, just like he was doing with his contest.

Now I've heard from enough of our guys to realize that he did neither, that he sold several seats to those in the house and to locals, who wiped out the upstanding fantasy football players who came for a night of fun with their peers. James does owe all of us an apology and he certainly owes me an apology. He should have closed the poker tournament to whatever players he had at Binion's and pro-rated the prize money as is. What a shame he failed to act properly and do the right thing.

James announced on May 3 that he had 57 signups for the Fantasy Frenzy and on Sept. 4th when he held his event he couldn't even fill four leagues, which is 48 players. The week before the event, he told me he had 52 paid entries. The numbers are all over the board. I am completely disappointed in all of the high-stakes operators who couldn't be honest with their customers right from the get-go. It's this type of business practice that will certainly make some legislator or attorney general who is looking to make a name for himself create some type of regulation that will hurt the entire industry.

I'm sure James is reading our boards like he's done the last two months and the very least he can do now is apologize to those NFFC members he took $179 from. If he's not man enough to do that, then at least we'll know that's the last we'll hear from him on our boards. Shame on you James for running two bad events, and that's coming from someone who talked to you about six times before our events and almost trusted you enough to work together. Thank God I came to my senses.

WCOFB-WCOFF - YUK

Picked up Justin Morneau from THEIR waivers on THEIR website.

"You can't have him"

I ALREADY HAVE HIM. I SELECTED HIM IN YOUR FREE AGENT DRAFT, FROM YOUR FREE AGENT SELECTIONS

"We made a mistake. You can't have him"

WHY WAS MORNEAU LISTED WITH THE FREE AGENTS IF I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO PICK HIM UP

"Because Morneau wasn't officially called up you aren't allowed to have him"

THEN WHY WAS HE ON THE LIST AND WHY DID YOUR SITE ALLOW ME TO PICK HIM UP

"We don't know"

WHAT ABOUT ZACH GREINKE ? HE WAS SELECTED AS A FREE AGENT BEFORE HE WAS IN THE MAJORS

"Well that person put in an email requesting Zeinke be eligible, which is how you pick up free agents who aren't yet in the majors"

THAT'S IGNORANT AND MICKEY MOUSE. IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHEAT ME OUT OF MORNEAU THEN GIVE ME MY 2nd CHOICE, THE GUY LISTED AFTER MORNEAU

"Can't do it"

WHY

"Somebody else selected him"

BUT MY BID WAS HIGHER

"But you selected Morneau"

BUT YOU WON'T LET ME HAVE MORNEAU. GIVE ME MY 2nd CHOICE

"Can't do it. The free agent draft for this week is completed"

SO I CAN'T HAVE A FREE AGENT BECAUSE YOU LIST PEOPLE ON YOUR FREE AGENT LIST THAT AREN'T FREE AGENTS AND BY THE TIME YOU CORRECT YOUR MISTAKE IT'S TOO LATE FOR ME TO SELECT A FREE AGENT....SO I'M SCREWED BECAUSE OF YOUR INCOMPETENCE...IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE REALLY SAYING

(hangup)

I have at least 10 more experiences with WCOFB that are just as ignorant as the one above. I wanted to warn any new people who might get the impression from reading this message board that WCOFB-WCOFF is similar to NFBC-NFFC. The two companies are not similar in any way at all except that they charge the same $. WCOFB is run like a bar league, with floating rules and crap like the episode I described above that happened to me repeatedly. The NFBC is much more professional. Just wanted to give another opinion for people deciding to play in more leagues.

I'm a working man. When I pay $ 1,350 to play in a fantasy league I expect professional treatment. Not writing this to bitch......but rather warn, as I wish someone would have done for me.

Sorry, Hell's...

But your post is sour grapes and whining.

Having played in the same event and under the same rules, I know you don't have a real complaint. Okay, the rules were kind of strange and the database didn't always immediately reflect the current status of a player but...

Rules are rules and those of us that followed them to the letter had no problems. The rules stated that a player had to be on a Major League active list to be picked up unless an email requesting an inactive player was sent to the organizers THE PRIOR WEEK so that all owners could be informed of the additional eligibilities. They sent emails about these players and posted them on the Message Board.

All according to the rules.

Nothing to warn about, only to bitch about.

The WCOFB is a joke. Doesn't matter what the rules are. Thanks.

Hey Jersey Paul,

I told something that happened in the WCOFB. A TRUE story, something that happened. If that's sour grapes to you, oh well. Just wished I would have been warned, so I laid the truth out there for any newcomers.

I hope you pick up a free agent in the NFFC, off the free agent wire, and the NFFC takes him away from you after you've got him on your roster, from their free agent list on their website, after they put him on your roster...and then they take him off your roster.........but only you, because you'll be ok with that, as you wouldn't want to create any sour grapes.

Not to create an argument but...

Knowing the rule, I checked every FA I wanted as to when he was dropped (after Aug. 1) and his Major League status. I also sent emails for those minor leaguers/disabled players I was interested in.

So yes, I would be upset if it happened because I was careful to follow the rules. You didn't, so no point in being upset.

I don't need to dive into this argument, but I will anyway.

The WCOFB is using MY rules that I wrote for them two years ago and in two years they've found a way to screw up even the free agent process. There are no problems in the NFBC with the rules, free agent pickups, transactions or anything else. People don't send us e-mails to add minor leaguers or disabled players to the free agent lists. Our rules are pretty damn clear and everyone knows how the process works. If they don't they can call me directly and I'll explain everything to them.

You are a loyal soldier JP, but I've read those posts on the other boards and feel the pain of some of those other owners. I can just tell you we would never treat our participants that way. Hope we can convince you to try our baseball contest next year, but if not enjoy that other one again.
