So 2 weeks in the books let's hear it. How are your teams making out? Tom - I would say it's about time for some more afternoon chats but it would probably just be me and you.

Hey Jeff, I post updated results for all of the Expert Leagues I'm in and some of the ones Greg's in on our Web site. Here's the link to that section of the site:
http://fb.fwpublications.com/Default.aspx?tabid=142
To summarize, it's been an up-and-down start. There are a couple of leagues where I'm 0-2, a couple I'm 1-1 and one where I'm 2-0. The one Expert League I really care about (the FantasyGuru league where the winner gets a big screen TV -- I came in 2nd last year) I'm 1-1 there and I'm really scrambling after losing Javon Walker.
My main league's team has great depth but I have a few guys who aren't setting the world on fire at the moment (Delhomme, who's my QB2, as well as McGahee and Kevin Jones). It's a long season and I like my team quite a bit so I'm not worried.

I'm in six industry leagues and one family league and you know I'm off to a good start or I wouldn't be responding! . I'm 11-3 with one of those losses coming last week in LBS vs. World (Javon Walker!). It's probably my best start as I have Thomas Jones in several leagues and Carson Palmer in a few. I can't predict that any of these teams will be championship teams, but it's been fun to go 6-1 and 5-2 the last two weeks.
More importantly, I have two industry baseball teams that are clinging onto first place. I need to get through 10 more days to win two titles as I'd love to have those titles. One is our magazine league, where I've led from the start. Tom went wire-to-wire last year to win it and I'd love to follow him this year, but Nate Ravitz of RotoTimes.com is closing fast. I'll try to hold him off the best I can!

I agree, a Wednesday or Thursday chat during the season sounds like a good idea. Tom will get that going next week.

That's great fellas. Glad you're off to pretty good starts. J.Walker has hurt more than 1 FF owner this year. I'm glad we had him last year as I usually try to draft different players from year to year.
Tom - I expect the land scape to change quite a bit the next few weeks as alot of the *superstars* are off to a slow start.
How many people really expect to see Dilfer and S.Davis in the top 5 at years end while guys like Gonzo are 10th in their respective catagories.
I'm real concerned about Portis as I have him in the main event and maybe GekkoII as well.
Do you think Gibbs will ever get a clue or is he content to run between the tackles and let Brunell chuck it 40 yards downfield on every series. I hope he's not my undoing this year. A major injury would be easier to swallow.

Amazing that Del won the Guru league last year after posting a 6-7 regular season record. Thought that Mr.Fantasy Football, Kevin Carroz was gonna take that thing from you guys.
I am a big fan of Hansen. No disrespect to anyone on here, but I feel he is one of the best in the business (with the track record to prove it). I am sure you guys have the utmost respect for him too.
Started following him when he was on the old NFL Channel #703 on DTV. Tuning in each week just to hear Jaws' picks was quite humorous. Wish you well in the FantasyGuru league. Some pretty good competitors there.
I just ask you one thing, please don't let Nick Bakay win!

I agree. It's far too soon to panic with anybody in my opinion.

I'm a firm believer that 90 percent of the time in football talent wins out. That doesn't always happen but most of the time you can bank on the talented guys getting theirs when it's all said and done. I feel confident in predicting that Trent Dilfer will not rank above Peyton Manning in fantasy leagues at the end of the season.

A major injury would be easier to swallow. I thought Portis looked good in Week 1 and then had his hands full against the Cowboys in Week 2. He's still a very talented RB but the more I watch the Redskins the more convinced I am that the game has passed Gibbs by. He still isn't using Portis the way he should be used and it's a criminal waste of a major talent. However, despite all that Portis was a Top 10 RB in most fantasy scoring systems last season and I think he'll end up there again this season.

John is definitely one of the best in the business, no doubt about that. We do have a lot of respect for him and he's one of our best custom publishing partners. I will say this, if I had won the title in his league last season it would've been one of the most amazing things I've ever accomplished in a fantasy league because in that Guru League I am always battered by injuries (more on this in a bit) and last season was no exception. Outside of Edge, I really had nothing at RB all year (I won one week because I used Moe Williams as a RB3 in a bye week and he scored and caught a couple of passes and I won another because Verron Haynes went off the one week I used him) and my WRs were a mix and match set. My two top WRs were guys I drafted at the end of the draft -- Muhammad and Kennison. Who knew Moose would become a fantasy stud and Kennison would become gold in the stretch run?
I lost that league because I jinxed myself. I was sitting at home on Tuesday of the last week watching TV and I started thinking, "Where will I put the big-screen in my apartment?" And sure enough that was the jinx. William had Green, Gonzo and LJ and those three guys went off in the Saturday game. Then on Sunday, Dom Davis went nuts for him. Moose made a valiant effort to get me the win but I couldn't overcome the massive point total his three Chiefs put up.
Props to him although I didn't need to have him tell me in Vegas last March that he already had a big-screen TV and this one would be his second.
As far as this season goes, the injury bug that blasts me in the Guru League every year has continued. In past years I've seen key guys like Michael Bennett and Boldin suffer major injuries and Shannon Sharpe retire two days after our draft. This year, I've already lost three guys for the season (Walker, Eric Johnson and Shelton) and Staley hasn't played (I'm actually trying to remember why in the hell I drafted that guy since I wasn't very high on him -- I think I was drunk or something ). I'm starting Mewelde Moore as my RB2 this week because Portis is on a bye and I have no RB depth really after Deuce and Portis.
So wish me luck. Something tells me I'm gonna need it.

NFFC guys do well everywhere. I'm sitting 2nd overall in the RotoBowl, .32 points behind first and we go head to head this week (1st and 2nd both in the same league!!). I'm actually outscoring the guy, but week 1 was a single game and week 2 was a double (5 weeks of the regular season are double games, for a total of 16 games in the 11 week regular season). I beat him good week 1 but his slight edge week 2 caught him up.
I had the perfect draft in a start 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 Flex. Drafting 10th out of 12, they let Deuce fall to me. Certainly would not have happened before Katrina. In round 2 I got Westbrook who I had projected as a top 5 RB in the 1 ppr league. Then I went WR,WR,WR with DJax, Drew Bennett and Driver. In 6 I snagged Kerry Collins and in the 7th I got Thomas Jones. I filled out my starters with Rod Smith in the 8th.
My backups are McNair and Dilfer (via waiver), Brandon Lloyd and Arnaz Battle (we'll see who the real #1 is) and Dennis Northcutt. My TEs are Courtney Anderson (because week 1 stats would count), Chris Baker (waiver) and Cooley (probably being waived today). K is Kasay and D is Tampa Bay.
Without injuries, this is a legitimate event winner.

Good luck in the Rotobowl, JP. Hey, did you enjoy yourself at the FHM party?
