Greg/Tom: Rules Question

Post by Nag' » Tue May 09, 2006 6:10 am

With regard to Friday's Blind Bidding, is there a reason why it ends at 4:00PM Eastern and not later, like 7 or 8PM?

I ask because the NFL Injury Report, which comes out on Friday, play a large role in our final decisions on the free agent pickups. This report is usually released around 6:00PM Eastern.

Wouldn't it be better for everyone to move the Bidding time past 6PM?

Is there a logistical reason for keeping it at 4:00PM?

I can talk to Greg about this but the Injury Report comes out on Wednesday, not Friday. There are updates on Thursays and Fridays but the official injury report comes out on Wednesday of each week (Tuesday for any Thursday games).

baseball (nfbc) has it's free agent period on sunday at 7pm.

why can't football (nffc) have thiers on saturday at 7pm? with more coaches being mum on injuries, the friday waiver wire is like playing a significant guessing game.

thanks.

Yes, the initial report comes out on Wednesday, but the final updated version is released on Friday, late afternoon.

If you can change it, I believe it would be welcomed by most owners.

Hey Nag, I talked to Greg and we understand where you're coming from but at this time we're going to keep the deadline where it's at. We're always open to hearing additional thoughts about this or any subject but at this time we're not planning on making a change to the deadline.

These are excellent points...Last year I had many problems with Mike Tice not telling all about which RB was starting...However, even if the deadline was moved to Saturday it wouldn't have helped me as Tice waited until gametime in at least 3 games last year to show which RB would be in his starting gameplan. Parcells is infamous for this also.
