Greg/Tom: Rules Question
As for moving it to saturday it may fall under the old baseball abhorance to weekly moves - no one wants to be siamesed to their PC every day (or in this case all saturday). It's possible some check after coming home from work friday, see who they got, set their lineup and are good to go for sunday. Friday afternoon allows for a little weekend freedom. Just 2c from the other side of the argument.

as for the current deadline of 4pm EST friday, 95% of folks are AT WORK. i would say that is much more restrictive than having the deadline on a saturday (or even friday evening). that's my common sense, along with many other players i've spoken to

Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?
Greg/Tom: Rules Question
Just because the deadline is moved to Saturday (or later Friday), it does not mean you still can't put your bids in on Friday as you have in the past, if you so choose. What it does do, is allow you an opportunity to make changes, again, if you so choose.
The argument of "becoming a PC slave" is completely illogical.

Diehards rearrange their weddings so they can keep their 20+yr home game streak alive. Maybe the nffc will consist of 350/400 diehards down the line. It is possible that to get to 400 you need some pedestrian players. And they may think twice about reupping when they realize the best chance for 13 weeks to improve their team is to hawk their pc all day saturday for news bits.
True, it doesnt seem fair to the players who have no pc access friday thru 4pm. When IS the IDEAL time though ? Move it to 8pm EST and west coast non pc'ers are still screwed. Move it to 10pm EST and east coasters are heading out or to bed (depending on age lol) Saturdays screw the lets leave friday night and come back sunday night gang. I guess 4pm EST worked with minimal complaint last year.

No offense.

With regard to Friday's Blind Bidding, is there a reason why it ends at 4:00PM Eastern and not later, like 7 or 8PM?
I ask because the NFL Injury Report, which comes out on Friday, play a large role in our final decisions on the free agent pickups. This report is usually released around 6:00PM Eastern.
Wouldn't it be better for everyone to move the Bidding time past 6PM?
Is there a logistical reason for keeping it at 4:00PM? Obviously, we'll adjust the rules to what the masses want. Why did we originally put the FAAB deadline at 4 p.m. EST on Friday? Because we honestly feel that most injury reports are reported by late Friday afternoon to the point where you have enough information to make intelligent free agent bids. And by knowing which free agents you get by late Friday afternoon, you still have plenty of time to set your lineups before Sunday's games.
This isn't a STATS issue or a PC slave issue. We -- especially me -- felt that Friday night FAAB deadlines still gave you plenty of time to make intelligent bids and then have enough time to accurately decide who you are going to start that weekend. Now if the masses tell me this is just way too early -- or way too late with all of the Thursday night games this year -- then I'll ask for more feedback and do what's best for the contest.
I'd be more willing to do a later Friday FAAB period than a Saturday one, even though we obviously can turn it around fast enough on Saturday like we do in the NFBC on Sunday night. I just think that giving more time for people to figure out their starting lineups is more important than a day-later FAAB period.
This is a constructive rules question. Again, we'll consider all changes if there seems to be a groundswell of support for it.

Thanks Greg! How about a message board vote to see the initial response?

Feel free to start a thread about this and let's get the discussion going first. We have plenty of time to still make this move if the masses want it and I'll gladly conduct a poll if the demand is there.
