I know this has been mentioned numerous times, both in the NFFC and NFBC, that many participants do not have internet access at home, only at work.
I may be a little "new-fashioned"(did I just make up a word there?) but how many participants do you really believe do not have access at home?? I would seriously like to know. I am aware that computers aren't a true necessity, but if people have $1250 to play fantasy football, wouldn't you imagine they have a computer at home with internet access.
I know people and places differ, but I believe practically everyone in my family has a computer with internet access, including my 75 yr old grandma!
I am curious because I have seen arguments for the small percent of people who lack internet access after they leave work on Friday. I don't care when the FAAB deadline is, but when I see many arguments, for this and other topics, favor those who only get on the internet at work, it seems to somewhat favor a very small minority of participants. Shouldn't the majority rule?
Again, I could care less when the FAAB deadline is, but I seriously would love to find out what percentage of the 300+ participants do not have internet access at home.
FYI: most local libraries have internet access for the community, I know because I had computer problems one summer and had to go to the library everyday to submit my fantasy baseball lineup.
And why do people not like change? How could adding the K/D to the flex hurt anything? There's some weeks a D gets 0,1,2 pts and the same with a kicker. There's more points to be had with RB/WR/TE than K/D most weeks, so if you drafted well, this new idea could only help your team even more.
GG, maybe you should make your suggestions under a different moniker and see what type of a response you receive.

Because you asked ... I do not have access at home. I do have access at work anytime I want it though. FYI

UYTSo this is why you and Bubba are the DC kings but your pictures aren't on the cover of FSM this year.

What! ... you mean you guys manage your teams after 4:00 on Friday? Seems kind of unfair!Looks to me like someone needs to work weekends, especially on his satellite lineup teams as I'm sure Snake is salivating over this news.

[/QUOTE]Actually the sad part is ... I am at work almost every Sunday at Noon ... but I have a TV here.

Sounds like a great place to be. Can't get stuck outside doing the "honey-do" chores if you are at work. Me, I'm constantly having to bust rump on Saturday to finish the honey-dos so I can fight with the wife and daughter to get to the computer on Sunday morning.

Add D/K to Flex?
I am not in favor of adding D/K to the flex option.
This is a $100,000 contest that costs over $1500 to enter (when considering hotel + airfare for the draft, which is the case for most of us.) It should ultimately be a game of skill, and thus skill should win out whenever possible.
That being said, it is incumbent upon every Fantasy Owner to prepare for both the foreseen circumstances (like bye weeks) and the unforeseen circumstances (like specific player injuries.) It's this kind of preparation that separates the real players from the "dead money" players. For example, during the draft any Owner truly vying for the 100k should be keeping careful track of his players' bye weeks in order to avoid bye-week meltdowns. If some chucklehead decides he doesn't want to be bothered by such nuisances, then he shouldn't be "bailed out" later on by being able to insert a kicker or defense as a fallback for his own negligence.
Similiarly, all "live money" Owners know to expect player injuries during the season, and thus should become experts at roster management in order to respond appropriately to such contingencies. Again, flexing a kicker or defense under such circumstances essentially "bails out" the lesser player who doesn't want to be bothered by such a mundane triviality like having to think ahead.
Once this contest begins rewarding laziness, then it begins to lose its appeal IMO. That's why I like KDS over random draft selection (really improves the prestige of the NFFC), and why I like Draft-slot bidding even better (but that's for a different thread.)
That's my $0.02. Now being that I'm a MB newbie, I'm prepared for my first Gordon Gekko snap-back. Go ahead GG, but remember it's my first time so be gentle.
