Bye Week Blues
Greg...we faced a big problem last year in our league where one or two teams were completely abandoned half-way through the season right when the Head-to-Head battle became most critical. The result was that some crucial games were played against abandoned teams whose starting lineups featured multiple players on byes. This was not only upsetting to the serious Owners in our league, but it also tarnished the competitiveness of the contest.
While there's nothing that the NFFC can do about Owners who cut and run, there are some options available to help minimize this problem. For instance, I've signed up for another league where the software automatically benches all bye-week players at the beginning of that week and substitutes the player with the highest average fantasy points for that position from the roster. The Owner still has all week to modify his starting lineup prior to game time, but if he doesn't, at least a semi-competitive team is fielded. If the starting lineup remains untouched by the Owner for that week, then the automatic substitutions are then automatically reversed for the following week.
I think that this would be an excellent addition to the NFFC rules. It will not only reduce Owner frustration, but it enhances the professionalism of your contest and also saves you time from having to field angry calls or having to set lineups yourself.
What does everyone else think?

I'm with you 100%, Shrink, as long as at the end of the season they ban these owners from the competition for a period of time. Some people may want "dead money" in their leagues but I don't.

Sounds like this is a workable idea. As always time should be taken to analyze all pros and cons but initially...I like the concept.

One more comment.....this should be for bye weeks only - not for injured players etc..as that would open up a huge can of worms.
Bye Week Blues
Good Idea ... Should include IR players or OUT players. Just not anyone who has a chance to come back.

When guy's are OUT or BYE or IR. You could make a roster change based on highest points per game. It will work 70% of the time ... which is better than zero%.
Shrink ... Sweet idea ... you move to the head of the class with this one!

Shrink......great idea......
I got screwed this year out of a money spot in the basketball league....Half of the league stoped making moves. No joke,as soon as these dead beats were out of it they each quit.I ended up losing by .1 on fg% and FT% and like 8 rebounds/15 steals.....You get the point All i needed was these guys to play out the season like men And i would of had a shot at second and would of took 3rd place cash.

I think this is a great idea. However, I only agree with doing this for byes and IR. I can't see any program benching a player that is out, and starting them with someone else who's playing when there are times when you don't know if a player is playing until gametime. So if there is any kind of vote, I vote for yes to Byes and IR, but no to benching players who are out for the week.
