puts it in the weekly newsletter, etc... This should be the first step as it is the only way to reach the entire group.

I would highlight topics from the board, cut and paste some of the banter and hope folks feel strong enough about the topic to add their own views.

The MB is only as good as the content. It is up to the folks who spend a fair amount of time on it to engage in dialogue that could draw in the masses.

I would start a "Topic of the Week". You set the parameters for the discussion and email this out in the weekly newsletter. Next year this could be a 16 week challenge whereby the participants actually accumulate points for their submissions based on the votes of NFFC Officals. I would likely limit each owners response to one per topic and also to a set # of words (not too hard to do). You could spin off threads to discuss the responses further but these weekly challenges need to be a clean and short as possible. By clean, I mean fairly short and sweet as otherwise it is too much "stuff" for anyone to read. If each of us post 10 times on the topic there is no way to read them all.

The second thing I might do is survey the participants. There are several key questions to ask that could help you move in a positive direction in the MB and challenge. I could whip one up early next week.

I am on the road and short of time so I really cannot go much further now but I wouldn't mind helping you develop an idea like this.

note: My first post on this topic was not meant as a negative one, I was trying to spur a discussion on how to entice folks here by throwing out a few reasons why folks do not.

Getting back on topic...

It seems to me that the best way to make this work is to have an early off-season MOCK DRAFT where Owners can be open and honest regarding the thinking behind their picks and their strategy GOING FORWARD...something that would be impossible during a real draft. With each pick, the Owner can provide the reasoning for the pick and what they expect in the next several rounds.

Then, during the late off-season, these same Owners can have a real draft that takes place SLOWLY. Perhaps one round per day, where there can be analysis and debate on the MB (NOT by the drafters themselves, who should remain silent during the draft) that can generate some real football discussion.

Just my $0.02

Just my $0.02 Yes, that's a great idea. Those are the type of things I'd be looking for from any group of owners who would be willing to provide off-season content for the chance to later compete in a league with a free entry as the prize. We might even have 28 owners who would be willing to do this and do two leagues.

Again, this really isn't a Message Board reward for those owners who keep the MBs alive during the off-season. Rather it would be the start of making my best customers writers for the NFFC. And who knows, maybe some or a lot of that content will find a way to our print publications.

This is a work in progress, but it's a good start. Thanks to all who started this discussion and who might be willing to "work" for the NFFC.

I would think your WCOFF experience would only be a plus if you were wanting to be more involved with writing stuff for the NFFC ... as it gives you a more rounded background to draw from. Just my two cents.
