Auction League playoff question...

Greg, you should know me by now. When I bring up topics, it's for discussion. Not rule changes. Don't think I'm using this as a platform to change the rule and that this will turn into a 32 page debate thread...lol

I'm looking at it like this...

While picking the teams that make it into the playoffs using *points* for this event, you over-ride the head to head records...So I thought, while picking the teams that make it into the playoffs using *head to head* records, you'd over-ride the points scored.

*Team A scores 1500 points, finishes 7-6.

*Team B scores 1499 points, finishes 7-6, but beat Team A during the regular season.

If the teams are being selected soley by their head to head records, is it so outlandish for me to wonder why Team B wouldn't make it instead of Team A?

I agree that points scored is the best determining factor. And again, this format is helping me get into my second consecutive Auction playoff run. I'm just voicing my unbiased opinion here.

Too many times, you see people voicing their displeasure with a rule because of how it's affecting them. This isn't the case here. I'm just pointing out something here that I thought would be a valid question.
No problems here Marc. I know you were just asking and it's a good question. Others have inquired this week about the same question in our other leagues. I guess I just wanted to explain the thought process I had when I first set this up, which again was to not penalize a team that met a particular team during a tough bye week and still finished with 200 more points than that team at season's end. All is good here.

On another note, I have had some inquiries about the auction league playoff format and maybe changing that in the future. I'll discuss at a later date, but it's good to hear some folks like the current setup.

Auction League playoff question...

I like the current setup.....it does a great job of keeping almost all the teams in the hunt until week 12 or 13, which is better for waivers and the competitiveness of the league. And, the bye weeks for two teams in week 14 make the regular season still really meaningful down the stretch even if your team has pretty much clinched a playoff spot. I think the bye week is a fitting reward for having one of the two best teams over the first 13 weeks. Just my two cents.

The Auction is, by far, my favorite event. Sign me up now for next year.

In fact, there will most certainly be 2 Auction leagues in NY in 2007. I hope Tom is ready for another record amount of signups from NY. ;)

Absolutely Ken.

That last post actually went over my head for a minute Ken...LOL

But I see where you're going with that one. ;)

Do I hear "Free Pizza"?

Chitown doesn't give up easily, so I won't count my slices before they're cooked, NY style of course. :D
