Is there a new format for the ultimate league postseason. I know there was talk about changing the format and seeding criteria. Has anything been finalized?

Here is the playoff format for this year. If I recall, we changed who is the top seed this year, which is best total points rather than best h2h record. I think that's what we had talked about last year. Anyway, check out the format and let me know what you think:

The head-to-head champion and the team with the most total points (not counting the h2h champion) will receive first-round byes in the league playoffs. The next two highest scoring teams and the next two best records will also advance to the league playoffs, meaning six teams from each league advance to the playoffs. The third-seeded team (based on total points) will take on the sixth-seeded team (based on records) in Week 14, while the fourth-seeded team (based on total points) will take on the fifth-seeded team (based on records). The lowest-seeded winning team from that round will take on the top-seeded team (which is total points during the regular season) in Week 15 and the middle-seeded teams will also compete in the semi-final round of the playoffs. The playoff winners from Week 15 will compete in Week 16 for the league championship prize, while the losers from Week 15 will compete in the third-place game.

Greg,

I sent you an e-mail a ways back about the possibilities of having an Ultimate TOTAL POINTS league in 08.

As a teacher, I have difficulty spending 5K for a H2H league, but would seriously consider it in a total points league.

Change the Playoffs to Total Point, not Head-to-Head, and I'll join whatever additional league is put together.

Mark I'd be a fool to say no. I know you like the Total Points format Mark and I'm happy to offer a second alternative. In fact, I'll run this second draft 4 hours after the first one if we can fill the second Ultimate League this way. Anyone up for a draft at 2 p.m. PST on Sunday, Sept. 2nd and 5 p.m. EST?? I'm game.

Great that this has been changed. Now the 2 highest point scores will be away from each other until the finals. That is a big improvement over last year. Well done. One ultimate league is good for me until I win one.
