A very slow 2009 draft

I would like to spread it out during the summer also. Let's save a few rounds for August after training camps are up and running.

Like i said before you guys pick a time and I'll be there. I like the rookie draft idea but if were going to be done in May maybe it would be a good idea to have a 4 round supplemental draft in August.

There are always many unexpected changes during TC and with all the coaching changes this year it could be even more surprises then a normal year.

Good suggestions all. How's this for a compromise...................

Sunday Feb 15 5PM...6 rounds
Sunday Mar 15 5PM...4 rounds
Sunday Apr 12 5PM...4 rounds
Sunday May 17 5PM...4 rounds
Sunday Jun 14 5PM...4 rounds
Sunday Jul 19 5PM...4 rounds
Sunday Aug 16 5PM...2 rounds

This adds up to 28 roster spots. We can add a 2 rounder on Wed evening the day before the 1st game if you want. Also...if you guys want to keep rosters at 28 and still do the Wed 2 rounder we can defer 2 rounds from July to that Wed.

Another quick thought....do we want to allow drops before the final draft stage to allow everyone to go into the season with a full roster of healthy players? We could limit drops to suspended players and those on IR.

Just one more question:

Why are we considering 28 spots when the DC's call for 26? Can the system even do that?

I would like to see us all go into the season with healthy rosters.

Hey guys..........I thought this was going to be a SSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW draft. Why rush it.Though I like the idea about the rookies, unless you put a name with it it is NULL and VOID.You like Crabtree than announce him.Personally I think the Missouri wr. or even Nix from NC has a better shot out of the shoot.Look what Ryan did this year, was he even drafted in your league?Lets not rush this,I think we have something SPECIAL if we do it RIGHT.

Coltsfan, JerseyYo , kapefear and Raiders want a 24 hour clock. Most won't take that long. What's the rush? We have 200 plus days to do nothing.

I'm just saying,

John

John Then Coltsfan, JerseyYo, kapefear and Raiders should've come up with this idea or start their own draft.

Honestly I'm not trying to be a jerk but you guys are wearing me out with this. "why can't we do this..why can't we do that"

I've tried to listen and change things as per suggestions but this will go on forever if I don't simply announce something solid.

I will call Greg by Monday and we will settle the particulars and announce the league. If after hearing the league structure some of you can't or don't want to participate just say so. There are folks waiting in line to do this league so filling it won't be a problem.

Again sorry if I seem rude but we need to make a decision and run with it.

You don't need to announce Crabtree. You are reserving your spot for May. Not everyone wants to be boxed into a pick in March before the NFL draft. If you want someone in particular...be the 1st to draft a "rookie pick".
