What do you all think? John,
From Jeff (very post on this thread)
$125 or $150 works for me.
Sorry didn't see that, 125 sounds good.

A very slow 2009 draft
I have a question that we haven't addressed just yet. Since this draft is being held over a long period it seems to me that the person going first will have a huge advantage over the others. For example, let's say Derrick Ward is traded to Green Bay and Ryan Grant is cut. All of the sudden Derrick Ward has very nice value and the person going first will have first shot at Ward. The problem with this is that the first person could hit on a few sleeper picks that have increased value due to timing.
Would there be any way to stagger who goes when or will that be set in stone? If not, then could we have the 1st pick go first the first round and then when we pick up the draft a month later have the 14th pick go first and maybe alternate back and forth like that?
What do you think?

An idea I thought of is we could maybe do a new KDS for each "session" that we draft.
Wouldn't totally alleviate the problem, but it wouldn't totally guarantee that the same person would be drafting first everytime either.

Seriously, that is a great idea.

Wayne I thought you guys wanted to do a 24 hour continuous draft.
Are you suggesting that we suspend the draft after so many rounds?
There's always going to be the danger of someone tripping over good fortune if the draft is a long drawn out affair.
This thing is becoming more complicated by the moment. I'm glad we're not playing for big bucks.....we might be up to 50 pages by now.
I get your point but I think we're putting this under the microscope too much.
Ryan Grant and Ward will be gone in the 1st 6 rounds anyway so this isn't a great example.
News is going to happen while we're doing this. That's part of it. We can come up with alot of these examples but do you seriously want to waste time trying to create the perfect mouse trap.
Let's just get our KDS in and get started.

I would like to see a 24 hour continuous draft broken into sessions, an do KDS at the start of each round.
Can MDC handle that is the question?
And P.S Jeff.... I WAS in class, and not on the crapper!

And P.S Jeff.... I WAS in class, and not on the crapper! I don't know how MDC could change the draft order four times during the draft. If you go that route, you may have to make picks in a Chat Room or something else. Just keep me in the loop and we'll figure it out together.

Jeff,
The thing I liked best about your idea was drafting a few rounds now, some more after the NFL draft, and ending it up sometime after training camps are going. For me, that is what is so appealing about this league.
The only problem is that if the same person goes first each time there is likely to be that incredible pick who was a 10th rounder but is now going in the 3rd and if the same person capitalizes on all of those opportunities then it may not be balanced. That's all.
I do like Billy's solution if it can be worked out.
I have suggested here already that we could do this whole thing via e-mail. We could pretty much run it how ever everyone agrees on, and then get the results to STATS before the season starts.
I imagine that would work, yes?
