A very slow 2009 draft

Post by Sabretooth » Sat Jan 31, 2009 12:29 pm

I am just curious about something guys. And I am not at all taking offense to this topic because I was lucky enough to get my #1 choice of pick 14. But why do you think picks 14 and 13 have an advantage picking at the top every month? Isn't the same order of any NFFC draft? Or is it that they will have a month think about?

It is the way the NFFC is run, but a standard draft takes about 3 hours.

In this draft, people will get traded, hurt, etc. which will drastically affect many players and give those who are drafting 14, 13, 12, etc. a nice advantage to get them first.

It's all good for me, but I do see the advantage.

I think that they will get the month to think about it.

For example, what if Plaxico Burress gets all charges dropped and it is reported that is will be business as usual for 2009 after a down to earth meeting with the coach? He is available after our one month break and it is your turn to pick. That is a sizable advantage.

There will also be lesser ones, of players sliding up and down due to various reasons.

We all knew the rules going in, so anyone (like me) on the other end of the draft knew that was the situation, but it could be randomized in some future league IMO.

:D Not to Jeff(kapefear) or my surprise, but you have build a nice solid team thru 4 rounds.

Oh ok. I do see your point. I guess a lot can happen in a month especially this early on.

I would have no problem going 3 or 5 rounds in the next phase to set it up for the other end for phase 3 and then back again and so on.

We are all big kids here and rules like these are meant to be tweaked to ensure that everyone gets a fair shake. This is especially true when working through a concept like this that has never been tried before.

Maybe we go:

3 rounds phase 2
5 rounds phase 3
5 rounds phase 4
3 rounds phase 5

Then finish with 3 and 3?

Wouldn't that accomplish the goal suggested?

No reason we can't address this right now. Just because we started and get four out of the way doesn't mean we cannot adjust on the fly regardless of KDS settings.

I set mine for 12-14 not caring about when I get to start or stop based on the phases. I set mine that way because I wanted to pick on specific turns but I too see the points being made and think we could/should address them now.

Just let me know if their are going to be any changes because it could effect what postion I draft coming up at 4:14. I mean without giving away who is on my rader if I am not picking first next month it could change things some.

We knew what we were getting into when we started.

If after the whole draft is complete, we think we need to change it for next year, we can.
