A very slow 2009 draft

Post by Sabretooth » Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:01 am

Oh and Billy you would be correct in asuming that I am leaning WR with the first pick next month. I guess I can say that since I am first up. As far as who?? Well there are several candidates. I am not even sure myself yet. And there are still some options at other postions. So I guess that didn't really answer anything did it.
About 3 weeks and counting.....

HEY JEFF I'LL CHIME IN ON YOUR TEAM

LARRY FITZGERALD: HAS CLEARLY TAKEN OVER AS THE NUMBER1 WR IN FANTASY FOOTBALL. HE IS NOT EVEN A REACH AT NUMBER 5 OVERALL.

ANQUAN BOLDIN (WILDCARD PICK): WHERE IS HE GOING TO PLAY NEXT YEAR? ARIZONA. IS WARNER RETURNING? OR WILL HE BE ELSEWHERE. REGARDLESS I THINK THE NUMBERS WILL BE THERE. HOWEVER THERE IS A CHANCE IF HE LANDS WHERE A BAD QB IS THEN IT COULD BE CURTAINS.

JOSEPH ADDAI: A GOOD VALUE IN THE THRID ROUND. STILL A STARTING RUNNING BACK WHO CAN ALSO CATCH WELL. SHOULD PRODUCE ROUND1 NUMBERS THIS YEAR.

TOM BRADY: IF HE RETURNS A 100% THEN HE WILL BE A TOP 5 QB. HOWEVER THEY DID FRANCHISE A BACKUP QB. DOES THAT MEAN BRADY'S REHAB IS POSSIBLY SLOWER THAN PROJECTED. A TOUGH PICK HERE BUT CAN PAY MAJOR DIVIDENDS.

OVERALL JEFF YOU GET B. IT COULD EASILY BE A D IF BRADY AND BOLDIN END UP IN BAD SITUATIONS.

IT ALSO COULD BE AN A IF THEY DON'T. YOU ARE A RISK TAKER AND I LIKE THAT.

IN THEORY I COULD "WILDCARD" PICK THREE OF THESE FOUR GUYS.

Like the term "Wildcard pick" Think Jeff has 3 of those. The chances of hitting on one is hard, three the odds are .0000001. :D This reminds me the time in one of my Leagues 10 years ago one of the guys picked a kicker in round one and made it to the Championship game. So time will tell.

I take as granted that you're joking and that there's no trading here

I'm having too much fun at Jeff's expence. To be honest I like his team. Just wanted to get past these next 3 weeks, and Jeff just happen to be the guy up next. :D So I was just busting on Jeff's team.

I can take it beating and I probably already know what will be said but here goes.

Pick 1 - Steven Jackson. It was literally a toss up between him and Michael Turner. I had both as top 5 picks so I was shocked they dropped this far. The reason I went Jackson was simply reception. Turner only had 6 all of last year and I was concerned that his TD total would drop this year. Jackson put up 17.3 point/game in a terrbile offense so I felt he might have more upside.

Pick 2 - Marion Barber. I had every intention of going WR here but Barber was just too much of a value. I had several WR's that I liked in the third and felt good about having a solid WR next round.

Pick 3 - Antonio Gates. All of my WR's are now gone. This is the pick that I will probably take the most heat about. Gates was consistently the number 1 TE prior to his turf toe injury which should be completely healed this year. If he returns to his pre injury numbers then he will put up better numbers than any of the available WR's left to choose from.

Pick 4 - Tony Romo. I love this pick. I was debating between Romo and Rodgers or else going WR of which I had 3 that I considered very even. Since the QB run had started I felt that I could get a top QB and still get the WR I wanted in the 5th. That made much more sense than to grab the WR first and then settle for a middle of the road QB in the 5th. I would have gone WR had there been an outstanding value out there but since there wasn't Mr. Romo plays for the Coltsfan team this year!

The one thing that all of the players have in common is that they are all coming off an injury last year. All of them would have been much higher picks a year ago if not for their injuries. If you look at their points/game they all warranted a much higher pick with the exception of Gates. (Barber's was somewhat lower but only because he was active a couple of games but didn't get the touches.) This team might be better with Steve Smith instead of Marion Barber but we'll see. I need a serious WR Committee to compete. Go ahead and fire away!

Pick 1 - Steven Jackson-A Steal here.

Pick 2 - Marion Barber-Great pick, how could you pass him up?

Pick 3 - Antonio Gates- You already know what I think of this pick. I think you needed to go WR.

Pick 4 - Tony Romo-I think you picked the wrong QB, Rodgers was the pick. IF TO, stays in Dallas than this could turn out to be a great pick.

Overall Grade C+, No top WR will kill you in this League. Unless you can get 3 top 20 Wr's. But after 4 rounds you have (0).

Tell Jeff I said (H)e (I)s done. :D
