This is just rediculous why, why might I ask are we wasting all this money on defenses for no reason?

You cannot win this league without one and the odds are stacked against you with just one.

Luck in FF is like a game of Russian Roulette. The BWaz's of the world only have one bullet to spin - the rest of us have two. It's still mostly luck, but ...

The real travesty here is that Bob now has until next December (when this league is over) to feel good about how he raised the prices of the defenses in this league. Since Bob and I are business partners, I have to live with it everyday! .
Pony up the money spook and don't worry about it. You can't win without a couple of defenses.

DC Auctions are a different animal.
In a regular DC you just wait for the run and grab a couple. In a non-DC auction, only about 20 defenses are even sold, so paying a lot is crazy.
In an Auction DC, the combination of best ball and bidding creates a unique supply/demand situation. In this particular one, teams that needed D's should not have been bringing them out and everyone should have been sure to get one of the first 20.
Every one of these is different and if you don't see it coming you just have to be willing to pay the piper.
I paid $17 for three D's and knew that if teams waited and got three for a total of $6 later that I was at a disadvantage. Now that everybody has paid an average of $6 per DEF you are not hurt by just paying the $12 for 2 and moving on.
You seriously do need two to compete (especially if your getting a couple below average D's).
