The K run is going strong !!!!

There are fewer Ks to draft than DEFs and they are more important because, unlike DEFs, they can get hurt. Mike Nugent, Lawrence Tynes, and Martin Gramatica all screwed me last year.

Since we will finish on August 9th, which is before the pre-season even gets started, there will be at least 3 and as many as 5 teams that are unsettled at K.

That is in addition to Ks that get injured after the pre-season starts.

That leaves no more than 29 Ks to draft.

There have been 9 Ks drafted so far.

That leaves 20 Ks.

There are 4 Ks up for bid this week, leaving only 16 Ks for the rest of the draft.

One team already has 3. Two teams already have 2. Two teams have 1.

If no other team drafts 3 Ks, and I highly doubt that will happen, there will only be exactly enough Ks for the 2 teams with 1 K to draft another one and for the 9 teams without a K to draft 2.

Every time another team drafts a 3rd K, someone will be left with just 1 K.

If all of the teams without a K fail to draft a K this week, there will not be enough Ks for everyone to draft 2.

And even if no one else drafts 3 Ks, some of the teams will be drafting Ks that are very iffy to hold onto their job.

In addition, the teams that drafted only 1 DEF are already 70+ points behind almost every other team and if they end up with just 1 K, too, they may be too far behind to catch up.

So, if the K run doesn't go strong, all the better for me as far as points go.

If the K run does go strong, all the better for me as far as money goes.

It is a win-win for me.

P.S. - The bottom 4 teams in K scoring in the $1300 Draft Champions last year all had just 1 K. 1 team drafted just 1 K and the other 3 drafted 2 Ks, but they included Nugent, Tynes, and Gramatica who got injured after our draft.

P.S. Part 2 - 4 of the 5 highest scoring teams in K scoring had 3 Ks.

P.S. Part 3 - You could be the one team that bucks the trend.

Let the K run go on !!!! I guess I care and I don't know why I'm reading this thread, but two of the teams that cashed had three kickers King of Queens and Team Melbrod. King of Queens won the league by over 200 points. His third kicker was Novak who didn't have a job all year. He scored 16.6 points for Glenn's team and 11 bench points. I had two kickers and had three less points than King of Queens. The team that finished third had three kicker, but Nugent scored zero points for his team, but scored two for the year. Billy Cundiff added zero points. He scored 103.3 points and still cashed.

Top points scored by kickers for their teams in the $1300 DC in Vegas

203-three kickers
203-three kickers
185.3-two kickers
180.6-three kickers
179.4-three kickers
178.6-two kickers
176.4-two kickers

The top three teams with kicking points didn't cash. Kickers were not the difference in winning this league.

[/QUOTE]I am sorry for making this the longest post in history, but here goes.

Drafting multiple kickers is less important for one key reason that is the most important yet least discussed aspect of DC's:

STANDARD DEVIATION is why a third Def is nearly three times as valuable as a third K. The higher the standard deviation of the position the more important it is to have more.

We all need to stop throwing out what happened in specific leagues or specific players as proof (I have done it too). Tell us statistically what happened when you run every combination (For example, the following exercise might be helpful: using preseason rankings, assuming I selected a top 11 DEF and a bottom 11 DEF, what would be the average contribution of adding a middle 10 DEF - Run every combination and calculate the average).

Follow this up by statistically running what, on average, you gave up to get it and the net tells the story. All of these specific examples just cloud the debate. ;)

Thank you for coming tonight - I hope you enjoyed the show - be careful on the drive home.
