Edge's heart is whereever the money is. Did you catch his interview during the Monday night game two weeks ago when he said in response to his biggest fear?

"Going broke."

Edge has always been about the money. After Portis' rookie season, it was Edge telling him right then he had to demand to have his contract redone by the Broncos. Edge will go whereever the money takes him.

I agree with you guys completely on that Edge should have been traded. Its probably easier to say that now, but if the Colts realized that you could probably plug in any RB in thier system and be effective, than I think he would have been gone, but he is definately going after this year.

He has still put up very nice numbers from a rushing perspective but its a waste of money for the Colts, as they dont use him when they need a yard. If it's 4th and 1 and the game is ever on the line, and we may see this exact scenario during the playoffs, they will pass. I think the first game of the year, where he was stopped at the 1 and fumbled, validates in Manning's head that he should always control the ball.

I saw that interview Tom. You hit the nail on the head and I think Miami will pony up next year if the Colts don't play all their cards. i.e. franchise tag or fat contract.

If Edge does go to the fins he might be the hardest player to rate in FF next season. He definately has skills and appears to be 100% back from the knee injury. No doubt Miami will look to upgrade the o-line but with a new coaching staff and zero passing game Edge may go to sleep dreaming of the days of the stretch play and running against 6 in the box.

He could definately be someones x factor next year, although if all this happens I'll probably stay away from him. I think Manning,Cpep,Owens and Moss have proven there are only a few RB's worth taking ahead of them anyway. I'm a real pessimist when it comes to high profile players switching teams. I do believe it's easier for a RB to make the transition than a WR or QB though. Should be an interesting off season.

This is a cool thread. It's nice to actually have a conversation about football for a change.

Thanks, RC, but here's another question for Tom and the gang to keep this thread going for a little bit. A lot of you think this is going to be Harrison's week but now that I consider the weather and the venue, I'm feeling pretty good that this is going to be Edge's week. Anyone want to change their opinion on this because if I'm Edge and I know it's going to be windy, cold, and possibly messy, I'm expecting the rock early and often?

I might think that in bad weather, but I was stunned when I saw the pass on first and goal from the 1/4 inch line last week. The fix for the record is in.

It will be interesting to watch though if he is still ball hogging in non passing conditions.

On another note, how is P.I.? Im from Myrtle Beach.

Pawleys is excellent as I'm living in a condo in between 4 golf courses. Trying to figure out which one I want to play today. Will hop up to NASCAR Cafe later to race some cars and grab a bite, then head over to Broadway at the Beach to grab a movie and hit a sports bar for some football. Holler at me if you get up this way. I've invited Greg down for some golf so maybe we can schedule an NFFC post-season golf outing.

The key to the distribution in the Colts game tomorrow could very well be decided in that the Bears play a cover 2.

The Lovchild comes from Tampa originally, and he is a Dungy disciple, so he plays cover 2. The way you attack a cover 2 defense is over the middle of the field. The reason being, a cover 2 defense covers the middle of the field by linebackers dropping into deeper zones, and using safeties underneath. What they want to take away, is the area from the hashmarks to the sidelines, and they do that with safety help over the top on each side.

The Colts love to throw corner routes to both Harrison and Wayne. If a cover 2 is played correctly, the corner should draw help from the safety over the top in covering the outside guys, and this exposes the middle of the field bigtime. I fully expect to see Manning set that up tomorrow and work Stokley and Dallas Clark deep down the middle of the field.

When a team tries to emulate a cover 2, they always try and copy what Tampa did, and still does, however in their great defensive days, the Bucs had extremely fast and skilled linebackers, who could cover the slot and the middle of the field, the Bears do not. The Bears do have decent pass rushers, so I would expect to see pressure and trying to take away the outside receivers because those routes take longer to develop, and try and force Manning into beating them over the middle of the field, and I think you are really going to see a big dose of Dallas Clark and Brandon Stokley tomorrow.

Of course its not an exact science, and if the Bears safeties dont get over in time, Manning is smart enough and good enough to find Harrison and Wayne, so who knows, but schematically, this matchup favors the inside guys like Stokley, Clark, and even Pollard.

If I ever come back to MB, I ll definately let you know. I used to watch games at Overtimes, which is in North Myrtle. Its a nice sized place, but its away from the tourists because its on the North side.

Have you played the Barefoot courses? They had just been finished when I left, but I got a chance to play the Norman and the D Love courses.
Im sure the new bypass must be nice if you head into MB, the traffic in the summer was absolutely horrendous, so smart move living in P.I..

the paranoia of the football fan/gambler/fantasy player continues!

somehow i DOUBT that pro football production from an offensive perspective is so easy that a QB can "purposely" feed the ball to certain players and away from others just to help in future contract negotiations...

if that were so easy to do, it would happen all the time and we would not see so many fantasy players "touted" pre-season to have good years because it is a "contract year"...

plus, marvin harrison has already established himself as a stud and his production and committment to the organization has already been enough to determine how much he will be paid. there is nothing he could have done this season to UP his value...

i think good RB's are a dime a dozen and i would let edge go and focus resources on the defense....

count me in for any NFFC golf outing!

I have played several courses down here, Dave, and try to hit a new one on the weekends I'm here as I fly back to Louisiana every 3 weeks or so. Keeps my wife and daughter happy. Overtime is one of my favorite places as I love to play the different trivia games but I do sports watching at Spencer's as it is closer and Bill has TVG so I can bet the ponies by phone with my bookie in Md.

This Sunday played out well for Edge, but I couldn't get any support from my wideouts again. The injuries in Week 4 to Henry and Roy Williams as well as the Eric Johnson slump have been extremely damaging the las 6 weeks. Oh well, I can brag for being #1 in the NFFC in points against and maybe Greg will send me something for that!
