i thought the site was good. i'm like wayne, at first i had a problem knowing who the nominated player was. it shows a selected player all the time (which is from my queue). you have to wait for the "on the block" player. if your picking up $1 players towards the end of the draft, you better have your queue full, it goes quick.
this was my first auction DC and a learning experience. i went out tooooooo strong and never could recover. i feel i have zero chance of placing, no depth at all.
looking forward to the 8/19 auction DC.

ESPN has a very good site for auctions IMO. This is my 2nd auction counting the mag league and again I was impressed.
Billy did a good job commishing although i think it's better when someone doesn't have to pull double duty like that.
As with anything you can't please everyone and not all the owners were impressed but I'd have to say that the majority of the things that went wrong were owners inadvertantly bidding on the wrong player. That's not something you can blame on the site though so I give ESPN a big thumbs up.
I'd love to see more of these offered by the NFFC with a moderator in place for the draft. I would definately join a few more.
One quick tip to anyone who may participate in one of these auctions in the future. Once you go to ESPN and register (FREE) you can join a number of mock auctions (Also Free) which will familiarize you with how the software works. It was obvious last night that not everyone did this as some of the early glitches could've been avoided. That's not a smack on anyone just a piece of good advice for future 1st time users.

bill VERY GOOD ADVICE. In the magazine league I got stuck with the last 3 $1 players randomly because I did not have other guys qued up and ready to go.

I only had minor problems with the software. Does the trick in a $125 league, could not deal with the potential technical glitches if this was a larger money league.
One thing I didn't like is that if you are looking to bid on a player at say $13, and you click on the bid button at the same time as someone else, you may end up bidding $14 or more for the player. Almost got caught on this a few times. They need to put a slight delay in their software when someone increases the price on a player.
I found this draft interesting from a strategy standpoint. There were more skilled players, so you didn't have the usual drunken sailor bid mentality (AP $60) at the beginning of this draft. There were fewer bargains to be found, especially at RB.

After a brief snafu in the beginning, and one mishap we had to rollback, I felt it went very well! The site is very easy to manage, and the only confusion is you have got to remember to see "on the block" to begin the bidding.
Being a first timer and moderating, I still enjoyed it and am considering getting in the 8/19 DC auction because I now really comfortable with the site.
As for the teams drafted, I have never been in an auction where SO MANY teams spent their money so quickly. This made it easy for the "Wayne and Bob" show to come in and get A LOT of value for some very good players.
One team left WITHOUT a defense (and no, Lou Tranquilli was not in this draft ), and all I can say to that is that if there is blood in the water, the sharks are going to attack! Another team left with ONE defense, and I agree with Wayne's evaluation of the "favorites" to win this league.
Very unique draft to say the least, and hope everyone had as much fun as I did!
Thanks everyone for a fun night!

That was a problem at Fantasy Auctioneer also, and is just "the nature of the beast" when it comes to "on line auctions".
I would LOVE to do (and have a thread set up to do it, but little interest so far) a LIVE DC AUCTION, because these problems would obviously be avoided.
So if you are in Chicago for the Main, and want to participate in a LIVE AUCTION DC, I just bumped the thread!

I believe this site has some of the brightest fantasy football minds in the nation, and yet you have 3rd place staring into your face and you can't even see it? It's making me reconsider on who are the real sharks here. C'mon. Do I have to postmy 3rd place masterpiece once again, for the world to see? OK...

The site moves fluently.
It is a little deceiving...As it's hard to tell if a player is being bid on, or if it's a player that's just next on the pre-draft list up top with his picture...
From going twice, to SOLD is a little too fast. I lost out on Beanie Wells because of it. Do NOT wait until the last second to bid here.
All in all, it was MUCH better than fantasyauctioneer....But I did notice that a few people weren't very happy with it. I'll let them vent if they want to. It's not my place. But I had a good experience with the site, except when Route C bought the last starting kicker by paying $1 more than I had, just because he could. I could hear him laughing from Indiana to Staten Island when he pulled that one off.
See you guys in the running for 2nd and 1st.
