NY vs Chicago Grudge Match Update

I'm with you both on this. It takes both to make the world go round or not go round, as is the case now. Lots of self-centeredness and very little teamwork. Sounds like NY last year. :D For your sakes, a repeat performance would not be the way to go.

It was NY's lack of teamwork in Week 6 last year that cost them the victory. One team goes and spends $945 on A. Smith leaving himself $5 FA for the last 10 weeks of the season, a team that already had McGahee, Portis, and Parker. Needless to say, as I predicted, he fell through the standings like a lead pipe, never to be heard from since around Week 13 when he realized his mistake. For Team NY's sake, they hopefully learned from that mistake and only time will tell how you and Frank will fit into that equation.

TSCrow - I PRAY that you did not just jinx us!!!!

Chi-town winning is as sure a bet as Lawyer Ron in the Derby.I'm a big pony player. Have hit (attended - not always cashed ;) the derby for 14 straight and breeders cup 8 of last 10. With that said - I think Lawyer Ron may be off my tickets entirely! I have not done final handicapping which will be Thurs/Fri when I see how they ship and react + posts - but right now I got 5 others that play/pay better than Ronnie. NEVER, EVER a sure bet in Kentucky - much less the favorite there. Remember Arazi?!?!?!?!?!

Killer - let's restate that quote:

Chi-town winning is as sure a bet as Mr Bush (the Reggie type) being the #1 pick on Saturday.

And how-bout that Rickey Williams!!!!!!!!

I hope you are right, Bubba. I want Lawyer Ron to go off at 8-1 as this horse is a beast. I can't wait to see this horse up close at the Preakness as I will once again be on the fence in the backstretch in the infield at Pimlico.

Remember Arazi?!?!?!?!?!California horse, probably gay. I rarely bet anything coming out of California and it's even worse now. Oaklawn is the best prep track for the Big 3 consistently and history shows that. I won't hook Ron up with anything short but he's my key horse.

Rick...how can you tell if an animal is gay - don't they all lick each other any way!No, horses aren't like dogs and cats, RC, as they don't care whether they are clean or not. That's why you have grooms for horses. Two giveaways here. One, California horse. Enough said. And two, he ran like 16th or 17th in the Derby so he was sniffing a lot of horse butt, male horse butt. :D

TSCrow - I'll agree that Cali has lost a bit of luster the last 3-4 years since they've been playing games with the horsemen there - but they've had a decent history and if you count them out you are taking risks I would not take. Two real players from Cali this year.

I'll let you know my "top 5" before I go - probably by Tuesday next week. Still won't be my final but better than I got right now. Hard to argue LawRon's 7-for-7 dirt record and current winning streak - but won't like the 3-1;7-2 odds I think he'll go off at either. Anything better than that and my interest will certainly pick up for him. I'll have him on some tickets for cover but I'm still thinking I'll try to beat him with my big tri - usually a 4x5x6 (he may end up in the 2 and/or 3 hole on that ticket - just don't know yet). I got to figure out if the competition he's been running with for last 3 races at Oaklawn (Steppenwolfer & Private Vow) are fodder or real - I'm still suspect on what he's faced.

Would not disagree with your Oaklawn statement if you look at the last few years - but that's a pretty short history - NY & Cali have had their day in the sun too.

Key that I see is what do you believe from the Florida Derby Barbaro & Sharp Humor - That's the wild cards I still can't figure.

Like you, I will wait for post positions and jockey assignments before making final judgements but I'm not concerned about Lawyer Ron's comp. I view it like mid-majors in NCAA B-ball in that trainers are avoiding him before the Derby. California has political issues and Florida has health issues so why would trainers run in those states rather than NY, Ky, or Ark? They are going where they can get wins and enough dollars to qualify. My 3-4 picks will come from those 3 states.

Good! I sometimes wonder if I like to gamble too much. After reading Darryl and Ricks last couple posts ... If I do get in too deep ... at least I won't be the first to go in the deep end!
