JUNE 25th DRAFT CHAMPS ROSTERS

Post by Bezoar » Mon Jun 26, 2006 5:50 am

My first ever Draft Champions (DC):

I am not really happy with my squad but I am not depressed either, after all it is a 14 team league. I don't think anyone that is not in another DC leagues should refrain from posting rosters because the format of DC is so different than the main event. So here is my fist attempt at DC:

QB
Brett Favre GB
Brad Johnson MIN
Vince Young TEN
Kerry Collins FA
Jim Sorgi IND
Jamie Martin NO
Charlie Batch PIT

RB
Larry Johnson KC
Kevin Jones DET
Fred Taylor JAX
Mike Anderson BAL
T.J. Duckett ATL

WR
Reggie Wayne IND
Javon Walker DEN
Keenan McCardell SD
Ashley Lelie DEN
Andre Davis BUF
Dennis Northcutt CLE
Todd Pinkston PHI
Scottie Vines DET

TE
Jason Witten DAL
Marcedes Lewis JAX

K
Jason Hanson DET
John Carney NO

DEF
Dallas Cowboys DAL
St. Louis Rams STL

Nothing to brag about. My strategy was very different in this contest because we don't have to try to decide on a starting lineup each week. Hence the QB deep deep depth. There are many players on the roster that have never been on a team of mine but they seemed like the right choice for this format.

I was really hurt by the run on WR at the end of the 2nd round. I felt certain I would be able to get one of those guys that went consecutively between 2.8 and 2.13.

I also made a few mistakes due to chasing a seven year old around. I missed a few picks and I was unable to easily navigate the MDC interface while under pressure after finding the guys that I had targeted were unavailable.

My suggestion is that everyone should go through a trial mock draft at the MDC site to become familiar with the software or better yet, find someone else to care for the seven year olds!!

Sorry that I missed out on the chatter because of my other responsibilities but it was a lot of fun and I can't wait for the season to start.

I like your team ... LJ was a gift of course ... you are thin at TE ... but I like your QB debth and you RB's ... and even your WR's.

You should be happy with this (not to mention it's your first DC).

Good draft, James, except next time, you may want to get your backup qb's instead of everyone elses. Unless of course, someone took yours and pi**ed you off to the point of taking everyone elses. For a DC draft this early, you certainly want to get 3 at every position as injuries and cuts will kill a team's chances, no matter how good a draft you had.

In retrospect I can see that you are correct about getting your own backup QB TAMU. I thought that I would pick up the player that had the opportunity to "go off" one week and outscore my starters but in this structure I have risked getting "0" from my QB position. If my QBs are the only ones to get hurt or lose their starting spot then I will not be able to trade or make a roster move to cover the position. Yes, indeed, a potential error on my part.

FYI, I didn't pick those backups just to PO other owners, NTTIAWWT. Aaron Rodgers and Mike McMahon were and are still available.

We took 7 weeks of zeros in a row at QB and won it in 2004. lost all of our starting QB's and both backups on two different teams (go figure) ... which also proves having backups is no guarentee either!
