Jerry Porter to Detroit

Talks are going on about a possible trade that would have Jerry Porter playing for the Detroit Lions. We'll see how bad Art Shell wants to screw with Porter. Will he keep Porter on the sidelines to teach him a lesson, or will the Raiders take the draft pick being offered and do what's right for the organization? Oh yeah, there is no " organization " in Oakland.

Diesel, where did you hear this? What round pick are they talking about?

As an Oakland fan, I say trade him. Too much of a distraction. They need to clean house. I still say too bad football isn't like baseball with lots of trades once a team sees they are out of it.

I think you have to be happy with 3rd round, expect 4th and settle for fifth.

Poopy, if I told you where I found this info, I'd have to kill you. :D And now that we have met, and are in some leagues together, I don't want to have to go that route...LOL...I believe it's a 2nd round pick that was up in the air.

What I have heard is that Oakland is being a bit stingy because they couldn't care less about Porter's situation, since their situation has turned from bad to worse with Brooks' terrible play and then injury. They had a slight chance of getting Volek to help them out but had no incentive because their organization sees what a disaster this team has become. They will be doing nothing more than looking for a great draft pick in 2007.

This rumor has been floating around for a few days. Apparently, to make any deal happen, Oakland wants Porter to pay back the $4 million signing bonus that he got in May. I assume that any team trading for him would have to pick up the tab on this one.

Diesel and KoQ,

Thanks for the info. I must say, I'm a little disappointed in myself for not hearing this. As for the $4 million, they will probably screw themselves, and not trade him since they would rather hurt others instead of help themselves.

Second round would be great. He's worth it, talent wise...attitude wise, he's probably not, but then again Detroit has Roy, so add Porter and you have great WR's

More Trade News: Oakland has also asked for the two Isreali soldiers currently held by Hezbollah to be released in exchange for Porter. No word yet from "New Fallusia". In a show of support, President Bush tossed football with Chris Simms. This has confused everybody. Tony Snow stated in a recent press conference that Bush confused the Buccaneers with the Raiders and would fly to Minnesota sometime soon to patch things up with the "Pirate Community".

_________ That Rumor makes no sense at all ..... Porter wants to be a # 1 Receiver, that is why he is unhappy playing second fiddle to Moss.... so why would he go to a team and play # 2 beside R.W. , and on top of that , why would the lions give up a # 1 draft Pick, for any reciever, when they used their 1st pick on one three years in a row. Porter needs to go to a contender, who has no star-power at receiver...... lets see ... who comes to mind...... Da Bears, no that would make to much sense.
