I know you are trying to be fair and nice, but something sticks out as wierd.

When adding 14 more tough teams to the mix (42) the prize structure rewards things funny.

1st gets an additional $1000 (should be more)
2nd gets an additional $1000
3rd gets an additional $500 (???)
4th gets an additional $1000 (???)

It's your baby...I just thought I'd comment.

~Lance Lance, I brought this to Gekko's attention last night, so I totally see where you're coming from. Rather than look at dollar increases, take a look at the percentages:

1st: $4000 to $5000 (25% increase)
2nd: $2000 to $3000 (50% increase)
3rd: $1000 to $1500 (50% increase)
4th: $0 to $1000 (infinity% increase)

Going from 28 to 42 teams should result in a 50% increase in the prize pool ($7,000 to $10,500), which it does so no problem there. However, the current structure calls for a 4th place prize -- fair considering the number of teams involved -- with (and here's the problem) 1st place entirely subsidizing that prize.

Assuming 42 teams, a more even distribution of the prizes would be something like:

1st: $5,600
2nd: $2,800
3rd: $1,400
4th: $700

Of course, as Lance said, it's Gekko's (and the NFFC's) call...

F.Y.I.

It's is possible to participate in two drafts simultaneously on MDC, especially if they are started at different times. If you're internet/computer is fast enough, you shouldn't have any problems....unless you forget which is which and draft incorrectly.

5K seems enough for 1st. We HAVE to pay a 4th place with 42 teams and the payout won't be lower than a dime.
GG...I absolutely agree with this and I'm very surprised you don't. Usually you are a logical thinker and this makes perfect sense.

You said 4th place wouldn't be less than 1K but gave no explaination... which is unusual for you.

Personally I hate the 4th place prize. 6...3...and 1.5 is more consistant with the way the prize is structured for 28 teams.

If you have to give a 4th place prize at least consider making it no more than getting your entry ($300) back. I hate leagues that reward losers. If you can't finish top 3 you don't deserve any $$$$ IMO.

If you can't finish top 3 you don't deserve any $$$$ IMO. we are taking about the 4th place team out of 42, not 14. usually there are 3 payout per 14 team league. with 3 leagues (42 teams), usually there would be 9 teams getting paid. i've reduced it to 4. i don't understand what the issue is.

as for no payments below $1,000, why do it? most of us drop $500 in a couple nights out on the town. $500 doesn't do anything for me.

anybody else have thoughts on the payout schedules. i'll listen.
Spot on Route C. The big catch last season was that it was almost winner take all. It's what made this contest different from the others...small layout big PAYOUT ! Now it's a bit watered down. :(

If you finish in the top 4, that is in the top 10%, and I agree it should be awarded.

$500 is more than you invested, and I don't know where your partying Gekko, but I certainly haven't ever dropped $500 in 2 nights!

Are you doubling up that night in Baltimore??

Bottom line, I am OK with $500 for 4th, but maybe a compromise of $750, giving the winner $5,250?

That way I get an extra $250! ;)
