Favorite Board Games (grade school):
Life
Monopoly
Clue
Risk
Stratego (loved to sneak attack the Field Marshall with my Spy :D )

Really got into D&D in the early '80s. By the mid-1980's, I was playing fantasy sports. The rest is history!

Forget growing up - we have a group of guys that get together twice a month to play board games. Our favorites are:

Age of Empires III (the board game)

Puerto Rico

Caylus

Settlers of Catan

Princes of Florence

When we get tired of board games we play a Chinese card game called Tichu. (None of the these games involves anybody dressing up in animal costumes!)

This was really cards and dice...But in reality, it would fall under a board/strategy game...In fact, you can say it was the beginning of fantasy sports as we know it...

Strat-o-Matic Baseball.

Does anyone remember this?

KoQ,

I just moved to Queens in 1984, when I met a bunch of kids that drafted strat-o-matic teams...They asked if I would play too, but I would have to take players out of the pool that was left after 4 teams were drafted...I said "what the hell"...I had an average team, but I had such a great time playing. Lou Whitaker is the only player I remember owning, but there were a lot of Tigers, since they sucked at the time...

Anyone for a HighStakes Strat-O-Matic League?
