It appears they have trimed some of the 2nd through 15th OA prizes (But they are still significant) but are keeping the 1st place prizes of each bracket the same. It appears they are willing to take the loss for the good will and publicity that will come in the future.

Poised To Stomp Sports, owners of the Fantasy Football Open Championship (FFOC), re-confirmed today that someone will become a millionaire this year playing the Fantasy Football Open Championship. The FFOC has re-confirmed that the Million Dollar Grand Prize is guaranteed, and the $1,000,000 is placed in escrow and it will be awarded and presented by Jerry Rice in Las Vegas on December 22, 2008 to the Fantasy Football Open Champion.
“We are thrilled that the inaugural season has created the most exciting event in fantasy football history ever, and we look forward to doing this for many years to come,” said Stan Misthios, founder of the FFOC. “We have had great participation and we are honored that thousands of fantasy football players have already chosen to play in our event.”
Moving forward, however, adjustments have been made to the prize structure. Click here to view the revised prizes: http://www.ffoc.com/rules/prizes.php
“We still have 10 days to register many more players and to conduct many more by the September 4TH deadline, plus we have hundreds of drafts scheduled, so it will be easy for you to find your perfect draft time. I have been assured by our game operator, Fanball, that they will be able to accommodate as many registrations and drafts as we have customers to play. There might never be a better time to have an opportunity to win $1,000,000 playing fantasy football as there is this year. THERE IS NO TURNING BACK. SEE YOU IN VEGAS!” said Stan.

There are currently about 4000 teams signed up..lets say they get to 8000 ...the ROI would still be well over 100% as they'd be paying out over 1.5 Million. WOW! so it's come in 1st place out of 3,000.00 or go home with nothing. Yep let me have a ticket please. :rolleyes:
Good Luck to all that joined.

Nothing?
1st - 15th below for the championship round group thing. Not quite what was listed from the beginning but not too bad.
$ 1,000,000
$ 100,000
$ 50,000
$ 40,000
$ 30,000
$ 20,000
$ 10,000
$ 9,000
$ 8,000
$ 7,000
$ 6,000
$ 5,000
$ 4,500
$ 4,000
$ 3,500
This contest has little real appeal except for the shot at a million which was enough for me to throw 125 in the pot. It did not impact my decision to join more or less leagues here it is just a dart being thrown because someone has to win and no one on the earth is luckier than I am in FF.

John/Raiders- 2nd place is still 100,000. I wouldn't call that nothing. 3rd is 50K ,4th is 40K,5th is 30K, 6th is 20K, 7th is 10K. 1st and Goal bracket is 10K. July and August bracket are 5K
All of those would be significant wins to me. It's heavily weighted towards rewarding the OA winner but there are about a dozen other significant prizes possible. Then beyond that some others that wouldn't be too bad for $125 investment.

Ted- You beat me to it...but I'd say 2nd to 7th place has real appeal to me as well. 2nd OA would pay more than I've ever won in a season of FF. I'd take that and smile even if 1 million slipped away in final game.

Should I purchase a thousand teams? What's the discount rate on that? $60 a team?

Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

PS ... I would bet money this event will go off ... and pay as promised (OK ... as they now promise anyway). With that said ... no track record ... a lot of things did not go well here.
The renewed promise that payouts will happen isn't much different than the original promise ... unless you find comfort in the fact that they are reducing the prizes ... after people have signed up and payed under the old prize structure.

Collusion could run rampant.
Not to mention participants this year will be the beta testers.
