On Line Championship ?

I like the idea WCOFF has put forward with their online contest. However I am curious, why would someone sign-up for a June draft and then compete for the overall prize with teams that draft in August?

My guess is that they think they are far enough ahead of the competition at this point that it will give them an edge.

Also don't forget that many of them will enter several times to try for a winning team in that competition.

I think it's a BIG TIME uneven playing field.

I'd bet it's won by a stacked June drafted team.

There will wind up being horrid teams drafted in June, leaving stacked teams who gambled and won.

Everything that happens in pre-season hammers away at the June drafted teams.

The AUG teams will all be ADP clones...less bad teams.

The first waiver wire period will have tons of draftable players in the June drafts, where the AUG drafts waiver wire will be bare.

Uneven playing field IMO.

Mike, if you really think you've got a bead on who's going to start in JUNE, it's actually a good idea to draft early. It's a major gamble, but if your predictions come true, you'll see some major talent go VERY late in a June draft.

I imagine you could also get a group of guys or gals together to buy a "league" and through the draft process make sure that you have an overall winner.

Diesel, good point however I think that I have a better chance of drafting guys that will be injured or suspended during camp and not make opening day.

Definitely a major gamble Mike...I'd say that there's always a chance that the overall winner comes from a June satellite, with a bunch of picks that turn out to be gold. But then again, who knows?

And yes, 12 people could sign up and buy a league...I'd hope that noone would be brazen enough to try that. And I'd also hope that any high stakes event's overseers would notice that one team was drafted well, and 11 other teams did nothing but homer picks. Good conspiracy theory!

Good luck with the WCOFF.

Diesel it would not have to be a perfect team just real good, suspicious but not so far out that it could be thrown out. There is enough high stakes experience to pull this off. You just cannot run a high stakes league without a random league draw.

~Lance Hit it right on the head Lance. Every year I have sleepers in June mocks that I can get in the 10th round or later who go in the 4th to 6th rounds in August. They typical team will miss on a lot of players this early, and many teams will benefit from these misses / changes in value.

A completely uneven playing field.
