Scoring - Negative Points

For instance, when a QB gets sacked, those yards come off the team passing yards according to stats, but in fantasy, he doesn't lose points. Why not count those as negative points wise guy? I guess he should lose points since its just math. But its a rule not math. A sack is against the team, not the QB. Since the Q never passed the ball, he can't ahe a negative on the play, but the yards hae to come from somewhere, so it is against the team.

I've seen league rule sets before that are pretty explicit about negative points being awarded (or actually deducted). These rules definitely do not specify that negative points for yardage can be awarded.

Greg explained it best.
Any player, at any time, can have a play result in positive or negative yards.
If that is a given, and it is, then no clarification is EVER needed. Yards * .1 = your score.

Scoring: Players can accumulate points in a number of ways:
I hate to be a complete nerd, but accumulate means:
to increase gradually in quantity or number
The rules do not say yards * 0.1 = your score. If they did, this wouldn't be an issue.
In your UFS rules, you are very explicit about the +/- from passer interceptions.

In your UFS rules, you are very explicit about the +/- from passer interceptions. ".10 points for every yard rushing"
That's what it says.
It does not say,
".10 points for every non-negative yard rushing", or ".10 points for every yard rushing, and the lowest score possible is zero"
My INT rule has nothing to do with yardage! LOL.
And Fiedler had a -1 Week 1!!!

Ico, obviously I agree with you, but I gave up after realizing that it just wasn't going to happen. It may seem like a dumb question to some, but some people just assume their interpretation is the only possibility.
As far as the sack, I just used that as an example. It came to mind because Porter was trying to pass and not run. I realize its different, but like Ico said, negative points are not specified except for the turnovers. I have seen it specified in other leagues.

Whatever happened to common sense?
Does every nuance have to be spelled out?
People accumulate negative things all the time.
There are people here that "accumulate" negative posts.
It also means "to get or to gather".
Terell "got" -15 yards.
NFL players occasionally accumulate negative yards.
As for Porter, unless he took the snap from the center, it can't be ruled a sack.
Common sense tells you that.
I've just accumulated my first negative post.

I'm not sure if it's your first negative post or not, John - but you seem like your blood pressure is really high for some reason?
It's not 'common sense' to accumulate negative things... that's illogical and stupid. Nobody seeks to accumulate negative things that I know of ?
If someone 2 weeks ago would have asked me if there were any negative points I would have answered only turnovers. I could easily see the yardage being interpreted as a 'positive only' scoring category. Doesn't seem farfetched to me at all.
And, yes, every nuance should reasonably be spelled out - common sense tells me that

I think Greg and Tom addressed this issue. But after looking at your rankings in the NFFC and the Gekko leagues, Dyv, I can understand why negative points would bother you. You might want to spend more time looking at the free agent pools and less time argueing over a rule that has already been ruled on.
