Las Vegas League 4

Talking to myself is better than steaming, so here we go again:

Another Friday, another waiver disaster. I can't figure out why the decision of who to drop was so hard - I'm assuming it's because of an irrational attachment to waiver pickups (the same thing that causes so many players to call a bet in the small blind with 72.)

After the smoke cleared I see I dropped two experienced #2 backs, kept three #3 backs, and have to field one of said #3 backs Sunday for yet another goose egg. Hambrick for 303 instead of Haynes for a buck - THAT was a nice move. In all fairness, Haynes was next in our conditional (for much less) but the Cards are running and Emmitt can't last.

In another league - 16 teams - we're starting Pennington, C Martin, J Lewis, K Barlow and D Patten and are atop the power rankings. How is it possible to be so good and so bad at the same game? I guess the answer is that all 14 owners in Vegas 4 understand that in fantasy football, RB's win championships.

Still, it could be worse than being sixth in points after posting five zeros from starters in two games. Maybe 1-12 can make the playoffs!

Thanks for listening...

Mr. X....I'm right there with you. I drop Fargas last week, only to pick him up again this week, after learning of Jamal Lewis' suspension. Tried for "Zero" but he went for over $800.

Now, I have the great dilemma of starting either Fargas, Hearst or Leonard Henry. I'm talking to myself as well. Good luck. ;)

By the way...speaking of small blinds, Party Poker now has what are called "Speed Tourneys" in which the blinds increase every THREE minutes. I've been in 3 of them, and each one drew over 1,000 entrants. Try it out...it's a blast.

All I need is McNair and Duce Staley to act like they are interested in fantasy scoring. Without them I have the hit and miss types everywhere.

So, when do you think we'll 'know' a team is out of contention in this league. With points being a category... and it being reasonable that any team could score 80 pts. on a given week and any other team could reasonably put up 150... that's 70 per week make up potential. Is 200 out of reach? 400? Just curious for thoughts.

I can't speak for others, Dave...but I can't see my team scoring 150 any time soon. I don't think that any team is totally out of it yet, but the weeks are flying by. As for Duce, I have the crumb in another league and want to drop his - heading for the sideline when they get inside the five, ass. If I see Cowher in public, I just might give him a bitch-slap. I'm sure that Staley doesn't have any TD incentives in his contract. Every time I see Bettis trot onto the field I want to beat the dog.

You know what's funny? I bet Duce's value would go up if he strained a hammy in practice and couldn't play one week. Bettis would get the carries, injure himself for the year and then Duce would be the man.

lol - let's root for a late 4th quarter ankle sprain this week... ;)

Simply astounding. As we watched 'will definitely share the load' players never leave the pine, Staley and McNair (both listed as DOA) explode all over us.

Dvy - great call on McNair! We would've gone into panic-mode and played Plummer.

Good question on 'magic number' regarding points. We need to make up 9.9 per week against the points leader - possible, but that also means climbing over 5 teams. Our high versus the leader's low is only 20, so I'd think a span of anything higher than 15 per game remaining spells the end of our season.

Makes for a long season when top pick is statistically ranked between DeShaun Foster and Aaron Stecker...

McNair has the goods, and he had a good game coming... for me to make some noise in this league I need him to be the next shell behind McNabb/Culpepper/Manning range so I'll beat that pony until it falls apart ;) Although Jake has a few good opps coming up... lol

I think if you break it down to 9.9 per week that sounds like a lot, but simply catching up 50 pts. on a week when the top team puts up 87 pts. and you knock down 137 seems a more realistic way for that to happen.

We all need health... and that can change things very very quickly.
