Health, true - and surprises. Tiki looks like the football version of Beltre - winners all seem to have that 'no one saw that coming' player. (Looking back, my biggest win was the result of plucking Warner off the wire in week 2 or 3 of '99.)
Hard to see making it all up in one chunk when Manning can throw 3 TD's and still be ranked lower than Leftwich, Rattay and McCown for the week, though. The curse of picking 9th, I guess.
It's been worth the price of admission to play against better competition, though. We thought we knew our s*** coming in, but this experience makes our bar league competition look like ants - side bets pay the bills.

Primo - I've only been on UB so far, but am amazed at the level of 'competition.' It's as if these guys read books and think 'ok, great advice, but since any two cards can win I'm going to raise to the river with Q4...'
If the game is so poor at 3/6 and 5/10 I can see where people are making a nice side income.

You really do need to think 2-3 moves ahead... Let's see... if Priest gets injured then Larry Johnson might get the job, but if he stinks it up then KC would probably pull James Stewart out of retirement... $3 on James Stewart

If the game is so poor at 3/6 and 5/10 I can see where people are making a nice side income. On the contrary, if these guys read books they would be easier to get a read on. It's incredible, some of the cards that they stay in (and RAISE) with. I would rather face pro's, as you know what you're going against. I've seen guys in early position, raise with suited 3/7 and chase down the flush or even the occasional straight. Drives me bonkers while I'm pondering folding pocket cowboys.

Dyv,
Again, very true. We figured Moe would start at least 4 weeks for Vikes, by which time J. Jones would be the man in Dallas, J Jackson would be traded and starting somewhere, and K Faulk would be helping out with consistent yardage and receptions.
By the time none of those things happened we no longer had the luxury of planning ahead. With Hambrick getting some action, Forsey getting the nod in Miami, and Moe healthy, we can get back to thinking ahead.
(You been busting Meat's balls about Driver yet? "That's the WORST pick in the HISTORY of Fantasy Sports!!!!!")

That's when the "Steak Dinner" bet gets decided... lol
Either way, someone is treating someone to dinner at the NFBC in Vegas in March.

Baseball playoffs have been profitable - I've played against a few guys who are obviously focused on the game instead of their cards and keep making mistakes - look for guys with names like "BostonFlopper"

Dyv, I hate to dive into a private league thread, but I saw your post above. Tell Meat we want him back in Las Vegas in March. I asked him in September if he was coming back and he said with his schedule he couldn't plan that far ahead. But he definitely sounded like he would be back if his schedule permits. Tell him to block off the 18th and 19th now!!!
We're going for big-time coverage of the NFBC this year, and we'll make Meat and everyone else competing stars!!!

I am 100% sure Meat will be there if he can. His schedule is crazy at times, but I have no doubt he's got those dates set aside if they can be managed. I'll keep you posted!

Maybe cutting the gangrenous flesh off our roster will save the patient. Interesting that Manning's bye week is the first we find ourselves not having to choose a lineup based on who is least likely to put up zero points...
