I guess I'm happy with #3 - but this competition looks TOUGH in here.

I'm claiming 5th place in this league, you all fight out which 4 can finish ahead of me.

I will take one of those spots Dyv, hopefully #1, but as you said, THIS is a tough league.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this week.

Have a good fight for second place. :D

Hey guys - great drafting with you. This is one of the tougher leagues I have seen. Many of you kept taking players right off my list - good work.

Hopefully it won't derail my squad.

I believe you lifted at least 4 different players I was hoping would fall 3 more back.

Great job LV6 - may the overall champ come from this league.

LV#6 - 3rd pick

Dyv - glad to hear that - I felt I was getting snaked by Nate Ravitz of all people - in the second half of the draft he was nibbling on my guys in the even rounds. Fortunately nobody bothered me during the first half of the draft :D

If we don't get some of these other guys here we will have to rag on each other all season - maybe they are just conceding 2nd place to you.

I don't blame them, really.

Ok, ok. I’m not very good at trash talking, but for the sake of the league message board, I will try my best while all the while staying completely objective. Actually, as I think about it, it should be easy in this case because my team, while it may not have the flashy names du jour (e.g., reaches like Mike Anderson), is a powerhouse nonetheless. What other team can boast a WR corps of the caliber of Holt, Jackson, Bruce and Muhammed, while still maintaining 2 decent backs. Heck, my backups might be able to give a few teams a run for their money (Vick, T.Jones/Faulk, Curry).

Which reminds me, I would like to thank everyone for the gifts I received in rounds 8, 9 and 10. Thomas Jones may not be a stud RB, but in Round 8, he’s a good enough RB3. Michael Vick in Round 9 was a cheap lottery ticket and at worst, a nice backup QB. Marshall Faulk in round 10? Again, not exactly a stud back, but somewhere down the line he could contribute. I figured at the very least that the Steven Jackson owner would have handcuffed him in Round 10. But instead, he chose Dominick Rhodes(?)

I know this league is good, but is this league so much better than other leagues that Thomas Jones goes as early as the 3rd round in some leagues (ok, thats the other extreme - usually more like the 4th-6th rounds) but he goes in Round 8 here? I’ve seen Faulk in the 5th rounds in some drafts. That’s early, but c’mon, 10th round? Vick? Well, I would not be thrilled with him as my starter either, but near the end of Round 9 is a little ridiculous. He’s AT LEAST better than Joey Harrington who was taken in Round 8. Thanks to these gifts, I was able to “reach” for Ron Curry at Round 11 and buy another lottery ticket in Chris Perry in Round 12. That’s another nice gift. I thank you all for passing on Perry, especially the owner of Rudi Johnson who passed on Perry to take his SECOND defense in Round 9.

You gotta like your chances when 4 teams have Harrington, Griese, Leftwich and McNair as their QB1s. You guys do realize that we have to start a QB, right?

A few parting thoughts:

Dyv: No, A. Randal El, Amani Toomer and Travis Taylor are not WR 1-1A.

Bill: That is not a pretty backfield combo (Arrington and R. Brown). Did you throw in Droughns to make the set complete?

Anyway that’s all for now. Let the games begin!!!

LOL

Very nice Ernol, very nice ;)

I landed Trent Green in the 6th round and didn't much care about Vick after that. He did fall too far, though.

I was watching Tom Jones for 3 rounds and had decided to take him but you got him as he was coming back my way. I agree with you that he should not have fallen that far. I think round 6 would have been a good spot.

The nice thing is that with you vacuuming up ALL the RB that they didn't get spread around to enough teams to make a difference on my squad!

That and with Freddy Taylor you probably need a full stable of options ;)

Amani Toomer certainly is a #1 WR - Randle El is now in the 'even Plaxico Burress could produce from this spot' role and will produce more than you believe. Travis Taylor was my little lottery ticket along with Pothead in Miami.

Jermaine Wiggins in the 13th seemed ridiculous to me... how hard can I try NOT to get a decent TE then end up landing the #6 guy on my draft board anyway.

love the QB slam - can't explain 2 D's back to back, so don't ask me.

Ernol, I do have to agree with your first statement. As for your glee at getting multiple RB3s - Thomas Jones (likely good only for the first few weeks on a very bad team with a rookie QB), the ageing Marshall Faulk (yes, he will still have a few good games this year, but..), Chris Perry (likely only a play if Rudi goes down), you better hope that Fragile Fred is well enough to be in your lineup enough so that you don't have to play one them all the time. You are right that they should have been taken by other owners though.

As far as your "great" receivers, I will give you that on Holt and DJax, but really who is going to get the ball to Muhammed who is coming off his career year. There is a reason he wasn't drafted higher. Bruce is a very good receiver - or was, we won't be sure until we see a few games from the Lambs, but there is every likelihood that he joins Father Time as Curtis passes him as the #2 WR on that team.

As long as you are passing out shots about other players, what is up with drafting the Jets #2TE and getting excited about that?

One of these days, Vick will learn enough patience and have good enough receivers to throw for more Touchdowns than he runs for - until then he will continue to be an exciting player to watch, but vastly overrated in FF terms. Give me decent odds and I will bet you that McNair outscores him in this system in 2005. (not that he was my first choice, granted, but I didn't realize that so many teams would be obsessed with taking their second or third QBs at the expense of depth they should have drafted at RB and WR. The positives for McNair/Volek are their schedule during our playoffs and the fact that they have such a late bye week that I can adjust if I need to.

Good for your first effort, keep smacking
