You are a friend Mark, but all this "weekend warrior" stuff is starting to sound a lot like your "built in excuse" if things don't go well this year.
If you DO well, you will say "even as just a weekend warrior I am a better player!"
And if you DON'T do well, it will be "well I didn't put the time in like other people".
I don't mind "talking shop" and answering some of your depth chart questions, but honestly.....either bring it, or don't.

It is simple math, in the DC FORMAT, who is scoring more points...
A) Donovan McNabb, Tavaris Jackson, Gus Frerotte
B) Ben Roethlisberger, Charlie Batch, Vince Young, Kevin Kolb
The 18 points (just a guess) that you or anyone will score more in Week 6 can EASILY be made up over 16 weeks.
Having Alex Smith and Tavaris Jackson for example is NOT a better combo than a top 5 QB and a backup, even when they have the same bye week.
The funny thing here Snake is the fact that while I MAY/LIKELY get a zero in Week 6, you more than likely will be playing with ONE QB (maybe a zero on Minny's bye week?) almost definitely for some portion of the season.
I agree Billy. Plus if by chance McInjured stays healthy this season...who does he have to throw to besides Westbrook. His wrs are very average like last year and McNabb put up only decent numbers last year.
If the Eagles can somehow acquire Boldin before the season starts then I would maybe consider Mcnabb, but without a bigtime wr I don't see much change in McNabb's stats from last year.

Billy,
Here is the other side of the coin with your QB's having the same bye week. You have 2 other weeks that you get to choose from the best score from 2 QB's rather than having to take whatever score the QB that isn't on bye put up. In the realm of things it really isn't an issue with your team. It would be a larger issue in a league with smaller roster sizes and you had to drop a quality player to pick up a 3rd QB to use for a single week.
You only have a very few seconds to make a decision and it's very easy to miss bye weeks. I made several bids (that a didn't win) for players or D's with the same bye week as what I already had in place.
My bet is that this is less than a 10 point mistake (perhaps no cost at all) and it will have no bearing on anything. Injuries can easily decimate DC teams but if you don't have a huge injury problem your team will be very competitive.

That is far worse than you having McNabb, who's good for 2 or more missed games and 20 TD total or Jackson, who is coming off a stellar year of 1900 yards passing and 12 total TDs.
Plug those numbers into your Snakecomp and re-calculate.
...note to SNAKEself: when sitting at the draft table with Comrade Wuss, simply remember that the kat likes to draft/grade/evaluate based to an extremely large extent on last/past year's stats/injuries and is definitely not a forward thinking owner with seemingly enough foresight to clearly see that things can, and indeed will change in 2008...SNAKE
Yes Snake, please consume your thoughts on draft day with how I prepare for the draft. Also, you may want to reverse your forward thinking when it comes to McInjured as he hasn't been over 21 TDs in 3 years!
In 2007 alone there were 13 QBs to hit 21+ TDs. McInjured has had 1 very good year, and a few other good years, besides that he has been VERY average.
As for Tarvaris Jackson, he played behind Matt Jones in college. Matt Jones for goodness sakes. Then he transferred to Division 1-AA and had 1 good year tossing 25 TDs against inferior talent.
I can see your reason for excitement this year for these 2 players.

Wayne I agree 100% Wayne, but some in the "peanut gallery" like to see some who have success at this game "flub up".
Again to clarify, I KNEW when I kept bidding on Ben that he had the same bye week as Young, and FULLY INTENDED to get another starter (however $1 more and I wouldn't have owned Ben). However, when push came to shove and the "weaker starters" were going for $5 - $6, I just couldn't justify paying it, as again, I felt more depth at other positions was more important at the time. So the mistake wasn't that I forgot the bye week, it was just I felt something else was a bigger priority (if that is a mistake).
I have always felt that "bye weeks" are overrated anyhow (in ALL formats). I realize it is different in a DC, but would anyone NOT want to have Tom Brady AND Peyton Manning as their two QB's even though they are both off Week 4??? Sure you get a goose egg that week, but the amount of points you will gain every other week, will EASILY make up the difference on your competition.
I realize that Roethlisberger and Vince Young are not Brady and Manning, but I will go to battle with Vince and Big Ben before I have a Ben Roethlisberger/Matt Ryan/Josh McCown combo (for example) just so I can say I have the bye weeks covered. Is having the same bye week worse than that?? I personally don't think so.
that all being said, I still think Kolb will start AT LEAST 5 games this year. Whether it happens by Week 6 remains to be seen. However I agree that this "flub up" may only end up costing me 10 points or less. If it costs me the money, then lesson learned.

Billy, BTW, I don't consider it a colossal mistake by any means. A mistake? Yes.
But there are far greater errors in thinking, such as drafting Dominic Rhodes as your RB3 in a DC. And feeling comfortable about Greg Jones and Chris Brown as suitable replacements for your starters in a DC.
I screwed up on my kickers. I can live with the ribbing.

I'm not in love with V. Young by any stretch. I have Atl QBs for about 6 less points per week than Tennessee QBs.
I don't see a big difference between Tennessee and ATL QBs in a DC format when both are clearly backups. I guess we'll see.

Look at the software on fantasy auctioneer - the bye week is clearly listed for the person nominating the player but then it goes away for anyone else bidding. So you basically have 3-4 seconds to try and find the bye week, review what week your current players are on bye, decide if you want to bid, decide what you are going to bid, and then type the bid into the computer before time lapses.
It's not possible to do this unless a player is getting a lot of bids. If a player is nominated at $5 and there isn't any increase you don't have time to check bye weeks.
Fantasy auctioneer needs to have the bye week listed by the players name so that you can make a better decision when bidding.
