I'm not in love with V. Young by any stretch. I have Atl QBs for about 6 less points per week than Tennessee QBs.
I don't see a big difference between Tennessee and ATL QBs in a DC format when both are clearly backups. I guess we'll see. I wasn't ragging on you for taking Ryan. I was just simply trying to say "would you rather have the 15th-17th rated QB as your backup, or the 28th AND 30th"?
Also, when taking Atlanta, NY Jets, Miami, Baltimore, etc. QB's it truly is anyone's guess as to who will be starting by week 5!
Which means (which you did Russ getting Ryan AND Redman) you almost have to get both (or in Baltimore's case all THREE ) to make sure you have a starter there all season.
I know you weren't ragging. I jut thought I'd toss out my thinking on these particular QBs.
and I completely agree with you when it comes to these QB messes. If you don't secure all 3 you're playing Russian Roulette. I did that in one league thus far where I took Alex Smith and Shaun Hill, but not JT O'Sullivan. I guess if it got down to the 3rd stringer I'm toast anyway. That's why I left him off the roster.

I guess I am in the minority with (ugh) Snake. I LIKE Tarvaris Jackson this year. I have no problem rolling with him as a QB2 or bye week filler. I own him in several leagues already. If his bye week didn't conflict with Carson Palmer's, I would have rostered him in this league too.
Funny, the coach that helped McNabb become a productive QB in Philly, is now the HC in Minny. GREAT OL in MN, nice RBs, upgraded WRs AND GREAT DEF, so hopefully TJ won't be put in a position where he is playing from behind a lot. Although I give Snake crap about it, and I don't share Jules' enthusiasm , I too don't "mind" Tavaris this year.
My biggest problem is that they not only brought in a capable backup in Frerotte, but they also drafted John David Booty (is that his name, I just refer to him as "Booty").
That puts up the "red flag" to me that Tavaris may be on a short leash.
Not sure Booty is the answer to any question.
And, like us fantasy owners, MN wants a "capable backup" on their team...foolish for any NFL not to have one.
Poor TJ, I mean no one is bashing on Aaron Rodgers. GB drafted Brohm AND tried to sign Culpepper. No one is talking red flags for AR. In fact, many fantasy owners are drafting him as their QB1...how many games has he started? How many has he won? And didn't he suffer a season ending injury 2 years ago?
Not trying to bash Rodgers, he is my example. I just find it strange all the hating on TJax compared to some QBs.
I agree that due to the fact that Tavaris runs a lot and did get injured last year, and they had Brooks Bollinger , they want someone better. However, if Tavaris is lousy early on, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him "get the hook".
BIG expectations in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this year!
To answer your other question, 2 reasons people aren't as down on Rodgers IMO....
1) Was more highly touted coming out of college. (let's face it, if Ryan Leaf came back into the NFL and word was "he looked good", you would DEFINITELY see some people taking a chance on him).
2) Has A MUCH better surrounding casts of receivers in his team.
Now I agree that neither of those reasons should make Rodgers "the anointed one", but I think that is where people are coming from.
Again, just my opinion.

I was sitting here wondering if Snake has his resume in Word and he copies and pastes it here. I think I've seen this exact post a dozen times.
Snake - I honestly do believe that you know what you're doing in fantasy football. You don't need to sell me.

Snake,
I think this is incorrect, as if you would have finished 2nd overall last year in the SSDC28 II, you would have won some $$$. From the final SS standings post last year......

I've been out of town the last three days. Had no internet access or even cell phone coverage where we were at (Patoka Lake), but had a blast, maybe even moreso without all the gadgets. Looks like I've missed a lot on the MB. I might as well post my team too since everyone is having so much fun picking them apart.
QB - Hbeck 10, T.Jackson 4, Grossman 3, Wallace 1
RB - Addai 48, McGahee 32, Jacobs 21, K.Jones 5, Rice 3, Rhodes 1, A.Peterson 2
WR - Holt 29, Engram 15, Porter 4, Mason 4, Gage 1, McDonald 1, A.Bryant 1, Northcutt 1
TE - Scheffler 6, LJ Smith 3, E.Johnson 1
K - Crosby 4, Prater 2
D - NYG 2, Carolina 4
I feel pretty good about my team all things considered. I made several blunders too. I really didn't intend to go $5 on Kevin Jones, but maybe he will end up on a decent team and help me the 2nd half. I agree wtih Wayne, sometimes it boils down to a split second decision in an online auction and it is quite possible to make mistakes. I got two kickers with the same bye week too, so don't feel too bad Russ. I just made a last second decision because the price was right and didn't have time to double check the bye week.
It's also real easy to hit the plus 1 button and bid one, two, or more dollars higher than intended. I try to avoid using +1, but sometimes at the last second you have to use it or lose out. Def and K went really high. Some of it was demand in a DC and some of it overbidding using the +1 button.
Hindsight is always 20/20. It looks like some players went real cheap, but at the time few people had any money to bid on them. Toward the end of the auction, I think Billy, myself, and Bob had the most money left (but not much) and Billy and I got into a few mini bidding wars. He got the best of me on several of these. I wish I had bid a dollar more on a few of his players. I really wanted Nate to go with Engram.
All in all, I think the auction went really well. It was a competitive group. A few teams look real lacking in depth, but several are really solid. I like Billy and Marc's quality in starters. When you factor in overall depth, Wayne obviously has a strong squad. Should be interesting to see how it plays out. Good luck to all.
