I am 100% positive that you like your own game, John - that goes without saying.
But I see no reason why a 'traditional' roto hoops game wouldn't be used for Greg's format?
I don't mind some variant to the draft order, but I see no need for that either.
A traditional, serpentine draft, 12-14 team league with 8 or 10 roto categories and starting rosters that are large, but not outrageous would be fun and deep and would reward the best owners. Allow roster changes once per week, run FA once per week, etc.
Sounds like fun to me.
Dave Hi Dave,
I explained why roto hoops is horrid. It's not a game of which team has the best players, it's a game of which team can produce the most balanced team. The cats distort the common sense value of many players.
With all due respect, you simply have not played enough fantasy hoops if you want to still use a snake draft.
In a 15 team league, there is a HUGE difference between pick #31 and #45. And also, #61 and #75. That's Round 3 and 5. Picks after round 5 are "mostly" made on need of your team and snake at that time is not so critical.
The data I ran about 8 years ago had picks 1-5 winning leagues at THREE times the rate of all other picks combined. Simply because they were getting the first 5 picks in rounds 3 and 5, instead of the last 5 picks in those rounds.
Since making the change, the data suggests more like FB. Doesn't make a difference where you pick. There are no bad picks, just bad owners prevails again.
Fantasy FB players have incredible swings in weekly game performance.
Fantasy Hoops players are very consistent for the most part. Garnett's WORST game of the year is still better than 99% of all game performances by all players.

Hey UFS -- I want to defend my 1992 UFS Hoops league championship. Any new ultimate leagues starting up this year?
Hello. My name is Lee Scoresby. I come from Texas, like flying hot-air balloons, being eaten by talking polar bears and fantasy football.

KOQ, get off that URL. It's not active yet!
I appreciate the input and I'm looking over some options. I figured we could round up a few basketball leagues and continue the fun with the group we currently have. I don't have a game set up now or a web site finished, so my hands are tied a little bit for now. STATS also doesn't have a commissioner product for basketball, so my initial plan has to be altered.
Keep the posts and ideas coming. Hopefully I can figure this out soon.

I am willing to play by whatever rules. But just my thought here, an 8 or 10 catagory league favor the more knowledgable owner as opposed to the point system. I have played both and can work with both. But for a "tough" league, I would prefer tough rules. You know, like some sort of top gamer league
My point being, for a roto league, you need to research and dknow your stuff, for a point league, you can just pick up a magazine and draft from there.

So what's the scoop? Is a Fantasy Basketball League still in the works? I might be interested, depending on some of the details, format, entry fee etc., the lower the entry fee, the better.

I sure hope so! Greg, any chance of putting together an official NFBBC league? Seems like there would be enough interest in at least one league.
